Can’t do that, we have to have a center are you kidding me! Why would we trade Jefferson unless we were getting a better Center.

  2. Patrick says:

Guys, maybe we trade no one. I am sorry I have gotten eveyone on the trade Millsap or dont Crazieness. No one has said we are trading anyone. With all the slots we have open right now, we could sign a few FA, resign our cheap peices from last yr and head on. I am sure Millsap and Al are both very safe on our roster as it stands. At least for another yr. LOL We only have 11 guys on our roster, and need at least 2 more.

    Harris
    Hayward/Burks/Bell
    Miles/Evans
    Millsap/Favors
    Al/Kanter/Okur

  3. Andrew says:

Agree with Patrick. Why should we trade anyone? Memo comes off the books next year and i doubt we re-sign him. Millsap and Jefferson are beasts. Kanter and Burks are entering their development year (rookie year) so they won’t get much to start off with.

There’s no reason to trade anyone unless we’re getting a greater player in return.

  4. Jake says:

Agreed. I think its likely they test the team before doing any deals and if coached right could really like what we have. It’s not like we didn’t show signs of doing really well late last year and they may wan’t to see if it can become consistent. The one thing that I keep thinking about though is Derrick Williams, he seems like such a good prospect for SF…

  5. Josh says:

From what i understand they want to trade millsap to develop favors… they also need to get kanter minutes… how do you split minutes between those 4?

  6. Kaleb says:

@Josh, easy. Millsap/Favors=PF, Jefferson/Kanter=Center. Split the minutes accordingly.

  7. Jake says:

Kaleb is right on. Josh our current lineup doesn’t have the log jam everyone is thinking we do. We just have good talent at both the starting and backup positions. Thats not a bad things or a log-jam its awesome and needed when developing young talent.

  8. Jake says:

Think about how great the practices will be, the youth want to come in and prove themselves and take it to the vets and the vets won’t want to be shown up by the young guys, everyone is going to benefit here.

  9. disco says:

@Kaleb and Jake. Why would you want your best plyers only playing 24 mins a game. It only works with Millsap at SF

  10. Marty says:

I’m not so sure Al is a tradeable commodity. He refuses to show on the pick and roll–even Denver ate us alive on the pick & Roll, and that’s not one of their strengths by any means.

If Paul is willing to come off the bench, I’d love to keep him. Word is that he would not be happy with that situation, though. He has a very tradeable contract & good trade value. If content with his role, though–he is VERY much worth keeping.

Favors compliments Al’s game on both ends of the floor & they should be starting. Favors should help cover Al on the defensive end and Al would draw most of the attention on the other end. Millsap is an above average offensive bench player, but an undersized defender. Having him on the floor with Kanter should play out quite well as Kanter learns the offense and the spacing/footwork required for NBA defense.

  11. Marty says:

    @Disco–No, I wouldn’t want all 4 bigs playing 24 minutes each.

Paul is more effective playing less minutes and/or could log a few at the 3, depending on matchups. I’m not sure Kanter is going to be counted on for more than 15 or so minutes during his rookie season.

  12. Kaleb says:

@Marty, you took the words right out of my mouth. When did Kanter become one of our best players deserving of more than 24 mins a game?

  13. Idk I feel like Jefferson is the new Boozer. Do you really trust him in a high pressure situation? In my opinion Paul is far more valuable and talented. Plus less money then Al. I’d be sad to see PM go

  14. Jefferson is a much more important piece than Millsap.

  15. Jazz Fan says:

Dude has just gotta crush on Millsap and doesn’t wanna lose him haha Idiot! Jefferson is the best player on the Jazz!

  16. bill says:

We don’t trade Al Jefferson unless to get Dwight Howard/ it will be difficult to part with Paul Millsap even if the deal obviously improves the Utah Jazz. In the end, it is a business/you must take every opportunity to improve your chances of being successful. Just my take.

  17. Ya Jefferson is just 1/2 retarded….we not tryin to win the special Olympics, I wanna championship an his inconsistent left hand floater when 2 other ppl are open just ain’t cuttin it. He shouldnt be our 1st option on offense…or 2nd or 3rd as far as I’m concerned. We traded boozer for another boozer Smh

  18. Kaleb says:

Your comparisons with Boozer are completely inaccurate. Al played all 82 games last year, and I don’t think Boozer has played 82 games total in his whole career. Jefferson’s defense, though not great, is still a grand improvement over Boozer’s. If you ask me, Jefferson’s left hand floater was about the most consistent thing on the Jazz last season. He does need to work on his passing out of the post, but that is improvable, remember last season was his first year playing Center. Jefferson averaged almost 20 points and 10 rebounds last season. You’re right, he’s a huge liability and needs to be traded… Ha.

  19. Patrick says:

Wondering if Al can play under pressure. What do you think him and Millsap did for a good portion of last season. They got spotty help all season long, but continued to produce. I think that shows exactly what your wondering. Now, with some help, healthy team mates, and a bit of improvement and consistancy from the rest of the crew, I think they will keep rising up to grab that ring.. As far as trading, trade Bell for Sessions and we are good. LOL

  20. Arnell says:

Yes, I do like the pairing of Jefferson at C and Favors at PF. And, Kanter at C and Millsap at PF (Offense & Defense are covered). As to the number of Minutes and who’s gonna Start and Finish – that will depend on who’s hot or not (that is how Corbin is gonna play it out, Competition from within – which I think will help propel each others performance to the next level).

Still, MEMO is the big question mark. Evans can also cover both PF/SF/some Center. I am hopeful that he will bring additional skills this coming year (ie. Dribble Drive, Post-up Lay/Dunk/Pass. We have already seen him that he can do a Catch and Shoot with consistency). This kid is a valuable asset and will be part of the core group after this year.

The Team now has 11 under contract:

    Harris
    Hayward/Burks/Bell
    Miles/Evans
    Millsap/Favors
    Al/Kanter/Okur

It is obvious that they will need to shore up the PG position which means EARL will be back and they will pick up a 3rd PG (ie. Kyle Weaver, David Lighty, or Hansbrough)for insurance.

There are two Undrafted players that might be invited to the Training Camp (ie. SF Paul Carter, PF Matt Howard).

Lastly, my wish is that Ryann Thompson will finally get his chance to be in the roster this year – as he almost did last year. Hey, what about inviting Joe Alexander (a double-double guy). Both have chips on their shoulders, inexpensive contracts, and been tested (at least) from NBDL (a better competition than NCAA & Europe).

    What is your take ?

  21. L.K.Anderson says:

Alexander cieling is MVP of d-league. ( See Almond Joy) Check out the team that drafted him and his stats. He is a bust..

  22. JRN5150 says:

All of the people that would rather trade Jefferson obviously have a mancrush on Paul. Dont deny it either. Anybody that watches basketball knows that Al is better and more important to our team. I am pretty sure he had a game winner and came through in crunch time more than once this year. He is my go to guy in pressure situations on the Jazz actually. Millsap is also very good under pressure but I think I would rather have Al take it at the buzzer.

  23. Ya Millsaps 3 convincingly perfect 3’s in less then a minute against the heat on the road was lucky, al would have hit 4 in a row
