Another Dreaded Trade Scenario

WARNING: Please leave Jazz fan bias at the door or you might have a stroke…

It seems as though Indiana really screwed up with Roy Hibbert. He is most likely done as a Pacer now. So that made me think… they could use Al Jefferson. I bet we just might be able to pry Paul George(and filler) away for Jefferson and Hayward. Normally I would see Hayward as untouchable but I think we made a big mistake taking him over George. Hayward will be a good player in this league but I see George as a great, maybe star player. They are the same age, can both play SF/SG, but George is 6′10 now after a growth spurt last season. He is the playmaker that we need on the wing. What do you guys think?

    Danny granger would be nice to try and get.

  2. JRN5150 says:

    Forgot to remind everybody that Hayward is a native of Indiana and many of their fans wanted to draft him at 10 until we swooped in and got him at 9.

  3. Larry N. says:

    Getting rid of haywood is plain nuts. he will make a bigger inpact in the nba than any of the trades you want to make.

  4. Guido says:

    honestly, Hayward’s issue could make this an easy target, I love his game so I dont like it, but isnt an impossibly scenario to Get Granger, George, whoever… and Big Al could be perfect for them.

  5. JRN5150 says:

    I agree Hayward is a good player Larry but I think that George will be much better. That is no insult to Hayward either.

  6. Jake says:

    Why does everybody think we are going to trade Al Jefferson?

  7. JRN5150 says:

    @Jake

    I personally dont want us to. But if we could get a player like Paul George then yes I would. I have long said that we should keep Al over Paul but this is completely different because of what we could do with him.

    @Larry

    This wouldnt be getting rid of Hayward. It would be Upgrading Hayward and dumping Al’s $15 mil. Please nobody say that Hayward will be better than George. Its just not true. Hayward will be great and probably an All-Star but he doesnt have the franchise player potential that guys like George and Favors do.

  8. KCJones says:

    Because Favors needs to start. Because his game is the most mis-fit for the system, because Kanter needs more playing time, because we’ve got enough quality bits his $15M salary could be turned into the most assets. Because he’s going to be a free agent after after this years and get a Max offer from the Blazers and we’ll get nothing in return so why not now when we can get Something instead of Nothing. Because we’ll be better defensively. Shall I go on?

  9. Guido says:

    Im sorry but, I stll thinking that Big Al is a looser team player.

  10. Dean Davies says:

    No, Hayward isnt going anywhere. Hayward, Favors and Kanter will be the core of the team with Burkes playing some role.

  11. George is not going anywhere. Hayward does not want to play in Indiana he has stated that. They might do a Danny Granger trade but they would not give up George.

  12. Omar says:

    I love Hayward! No way! Hayward is the Scotty Pippen of the jazz, he does everything, and will mostly be overlooked, and box scores dont do Hayward justice. Even when his shots aren’t falling he still helps the team, Al only helps the team when his shots are falling.

    Now thats DWill is a Net things will start moving.

    Remember Hayward going coast to coast and JAMMING it in Georges face?! Awesome play.

  13. Jaron says:

    You’re right JRN. I would have a stroke if we traded hayward, preceded by a conniption fit. The only thing George does better than Hayward is dunk. But we already have someone who dunks better than George. The proof is in Jeremy Evans trophy case.

  14. Patrick says:

    The reason people feel that Al will be traded, is because he wont take a 9 mil contract to extend and play here. Looking toward the future, we cannot afford him. So you trade him before you lose him to free agency. Nothing against him, actually like the guy. Would love to see him play with some extra slashers on the floor. You might actually see him pulling a triple double, as guys who hit shots help you get assists. Guys who slash and can hit shots, even make it easier.

  15. I would love this trade! Idk if it is realistic though?? Maybe we could throw in Bell, Watson, Howard or CJ to make it happen. Then if we get Myck Kabongo in next years draft, and sign Danny Green…imagine what our team would look like!

    Kabongo-Burks-Williams(Tinsley would prob be gone by then)
    George-Green-Murphy
    Williams-George-Carroll
    Favors-Millsap-Evans
    Kanter-Favors

    Mmm. I need to stop dreaming! Hahaha…but hey anything is possible in this league!

  16. Logan says:

    I think Hayward will be a better player, he is far superior than george in shooting and still has a lot of room to grow. The only reason that makes George look so good is because he is flashy. He is a way better dunker and his ball handling is flashy and he can do some moves to throw people off but hayward can dribble through traffic and won’t loose it you won’t see george driving coast to coast with 2 or 3 people next to him because he would loose it. Hayward’s one on one defense is better and he can block shots just as good as George but the only thing that Goerge is better is stealing and reading the defense and intercepting the ball. I think the Pacers would have to give us more to get hayward then us give more for George.

  17. JRN5150 says:

    Anyone who says Hayward will be better has obviously not watched Paul George play very much. Hayward is good too but they have totally different ceilings. Haywards ceiling is a recurring All-Star player. Paul George is a franchise player. He has just as much room to grow as Hayward. They are the same age and both played 2 years. Ask anybody that is not a biased Jazz or Pacers fan which one of them is/will be better and I guarantee that you get Paul George 98% of the time. I honestly think he is in the Eric Gordon category right now as players that are about to blow up the league. Paul George > Gordon Hayward. Not a bad thing though because he will be very good. Just a fact of life.

    @Dallan
    I know he wouldnt get traded for this. The Pacers would probably laugh at us for asking. I just wanted to see what the reaction would be and its what I thought.

    @Dean
    I dont really understand. A core of George, Favors, Kanter, and Burks would be better than what we have.

  18. JRN5150 says:

    George Also has an elite mix of size, speed, and athleticism. While Hayward is an underrated Athlete, he just doesnt compare to George in that respect.
