Thoughts on Tonight’s Game/ Season Wrap Up
Posted by: JRN5150 on May 7th, 2012
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Well guys, its really too bad that we lost but the Spurs are a very good team. Tonight we learned a lot about this team and some of its players.
Gordon Hayward- The poor kid looked like a rookie again. I had my doubts about Hayward early in the year but by April he proved to me that he would be a very good 6th man at worst. I do think a 6th man role would maximize his abilities but he will be good anywhere. He didnt play much tonight and didnt deserve to. Lets hope he can bring everything together this offseason and help us next year.
Devin Harris- He played well for us again tonight. It didnt really show through his shooting percentage but was some of our only offense tonight. Also, every time he came out of the game we fell way behind then he would lead a charge when he got back on the floor. He was our MVP through the last 2 games and was the most important piece to the big 3.
Paul Millsap- Got off to a quick start but after he got pulled his offense never came back. He really came up short for us this series. He was very solid all year but I think the weight he dropped in the offseason hurt his post game. He had to rely on his mid range jumper all year and he had a few rough patches with it. Honestly I think Millsap should be traded on Draft night regardless of whether Jefferson is traded. He is our best value and we need to sell while he is hot. He is a little overvalued in this league. Lets be honest for a second, he is not a top tier PF in the league and is much better off of the bench. David Locke put up stats earlier this year that showed he was the 24th best starting PF in the league but the 2nd best bench PF. He has made it known that he will not come off the bench. Why not trade into the draft? He is going to walk in a year anyway unless we overpay him and jeopardize our core.
Derrick Favors- HE IS A BEAST! I loved his game tonight. He still needs some polish but I love how physical he was with Duncan this series. I hope we have room for a third bronze statue. KOC better lock him up with a max deal ASAP. We cannot let this guy go. He should start 82 games for us next year or I will slap Ty Corbin.
Enes Kanter- Impressed me in this series. I love his toughness as a rookie. Hopefully he can develop into a solid starter and occasionally pop out for a 3-ball. I know he has the range. I studied his combine tapes very carefully before the draft and was converted from a Brandon Knight fan. He played some good D all series. I think a training camp will do a world of good for him.
DeMarre Carroll- Get this guy a new contract please KOC. He is a living representation of everything the Jazz organization takes pride in. Hopefully his 3-ball can develop after an offseason with Horny. I love his game. He should start next year to be the glue of our team.
Alec Burks- He is so athletic it brings a tear to my eye. He didnt play his best tonight and was a little out of control. But his play earlier in the series was superb. He will contribute a lot on Offense next year. I think time in the league will be his best friend. I see him as the future cold blooded assassin that we need to close out games. I love how he gets to the rack.
Al Jefferson- I was a little put off by his comments yesterday but to all those who said he gave up in the first game are wrong. He showed that he cared tonight. Tonight his defense went from embarrassing to passable. At least there was improvement. He also knocked down his 18 footer all night ( hehe Dallan). He has been our rock in the paint all year so props to him. Team MVP for the season without a doubt. He is my favorite player and I would hate to see him go. I cannot be convinced its the best thing for the team right now but I will trust KOC on this one and accept it if he goes. KOC knows the situation better than any of us and has a good read on their attitudes. If this was his last game in a Jazz uniform, I think we all owe him a big thanks for holding us together in this transitional period.
Thanks to all of the people on this website for the fun year we had. Especially Jason for the post game every night. This might have been my last Jazz game for 2 years because I turned my mission papers in this week and might be gone by October. If it was you guys hold down the fort while I am gone haha. This team means a lot to me. High school wasnt the easiest time for me but I surrounded myself with things like the Jazz and the Miami Hurricanes and I became so passionate about them that they are all I think about. I will be here for the offseason to argue with Dallan and Omar and Nick some more
and if we end up with a draft pick I will break it down the best I can. Thanks again everybody!
P.S. Dallan and Omar, no hard feelings over the last few weeks.

thoughts on tonight are:
Jefferson, Millsap, and Harris stayed marketable. Lets build the right team
Thanks JRN5150.
Best wishes on your mission.
@JRN5150, it’s all love here man. One of my best frinends is a Bulls fan and we have argued till like 4 in the morning, so no hard feelings, hopes its mutual. I’m going to miss you dude. Good luck with mission. Much respect.
Good luck JRN5150!
Life gets better after high school, bro. In some ways it’s more difficult, in other ways it’s easier. It’s been a pleasure having you on the boards. Sincerely hope it won’t be 2 years til we here from you again.
Even if it is, rest assured that Me, Dallan, Omar, JMC, Pat, KC, and everybody else will still be here arguing when you get back!
Good luck JRN
Always remember that karma gets the douchebags at school
Great Words JRN!
And you and me both. This was actually the last Jazz game I will be able to watch for two years. I enter the MTC on August 8th.
Though I didn’t post much, and only started dipping my toes into posting here, I did stay glued the whole season, and last reading almost every post. And I certainly do enjoy reading every ones discussions!
I’ll probably be involved with of season talk as much as I can! But I ave a lot to do before August 8th, hope I ca get it done. And best of luck to you! I hope your Mission is as awesome as I expect mine to be!
Sorry for the typos…
Spare the rod and spoil the child……..
we can fight here but at the end we all wear the same colors, the Jazz colors……
oh and, euh, 57 rbds for…….81 pts, i’m not a loon it’s weird right ??!!!
BAHAHAHA I may argue here but I do not dislike anyone.. Besides jazzman.. he is kinda a tool. But oh well we all have our own opinions and that is what this site was for.
Good luck on the mission, JRN! Went to Chile myself, but it’s been 10 years or so since then. It’s been a pleasure arguing the virtues and weaknesses of one Al Jefferson with you.
I think the Jazz actually started believing they could beat the Spurs by the end of the fourth game. Al started playing some decent defense and hitting shots again, they were moving the ball, we were getting hustle plays out of Carroll, Devin finally realized we needed his penetration, the Jazz looked like they figured out how to stop the pick and roll with Parker and Corbin finally figured out Favors needed to get 40 minutes.
Too bad we didn’t have all that going since game 1, right? Oh well, I guess that’s the experience that is so important to a young squad (that Golden State’s young squad got screwed out of by their front office and coach).
Onward Jazz, to your offseason signings and drafting!
I really dont sorry Gordon, he !@#$% on his pants dont deserve it.
I agree on Demarre new contract, the guy MADE it. A warrior
Good Luck JRN5150! Thanks Jason! And all the rest of you guys! Hardly anyone in the Netherlands is interested in the Jazz, lol, and after I went to some summer b-ball camps over at the University Of Utah the Jazz virus caught me!
So I always find great pleasure in reading all of your post and comments, thanks!
I agree with Jazzed’s first comment on here. Harris and Jefferson are both solid players, but we need to build the RIGHT team. I think Millsap is a great fit here but if we can get someone better, I wouldn’t be opposed to moving him as well.
Good luck JRN, let us know where you’re going.
