Meet
Thoughts on Tonight’s Game

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Even though the Jazz came out on the losing end of tonight. They really didnt play half bad. The spurs just showed that they are the best team in the league right now. I realized after tonight that we would have to play absolutely perfect to beat them. They are plainly and simply a better team. Its okay though, they have a hall of fame coach, arguably the best PF of all time, the best point guard in the game right now (dont even argue that. I watched the game tonight. There is none better), and one of the NBA’s most underrated players who is also the best 6th man in the league. Add in the best bench out there and they are tough to beat. The Jazz really just dont compare right now.
It was fun to see Favors, Burks, Kanter, and Carroll show up tonight. Favors is an absolute beast. I get chills watching him play. Burks? that kid is crazy athletic. He will be an elite player one day. Trust me. Carroll is pure hustle. Great pickup by KOC.
I wish Hayward and Millsap didnt mail it in on offense tonight. They both kind of sucked there. Hayward sort-of made up for it with very, very good D on Parker tonight. Carroll and Burks played him great too. The problem is that he just may be the best player in the NBA at this moment. Every time he took a shot defending hands were millimeters away from the ball, but it still went in. He was absolutely unstoppable. I have an intense dislike for the guy but I cant help but respect what he has done this series, especially tonight.
Jefferson played very effortless D. At least he played well on Offense this time.
Millsap struggled.
The spurs got waaaayyyy too much help from the refs tonight. It was bad. They probably would have won without it, but it still makes me mad.
Foul shots? anyone?
Harris came through for us tonight. I am happy for him that he has been able to salvage this season for the most part. It was pretty bad for him around the trade deadline but since then he has proved his worth.
Tinsley is starting to show his age. He just cant really keep up.
Anybody else wish that the Danny Green for Josh Howard trade went through now? I know I do.
Congrats to the Spurs though. I will bet money they are playing the Heat in the finals barring an injury. They are dang good.

i will be real surprised if spurs lose 5 more games this year. Flawless offensive sets. When Ginobli, Duncan, and Parker are on the floor theres basically 3 dominant coaches on the floor that can make a play out of nothing. Ginobli comes off the bench… Ginobli comes off the bench…… wow…
WTF bout Danny Green guys??? He is a Popovic experiment, we have Burks in there. The kid play well tonight, but Corbin’s bright ass dont put him, and start with Howards veterean ass.
I hate to say this but they kikked Jazz butts, showing team work.
Comments?
When there 3rd string point guard, Patty Mills, (who would kill it as a back up at the Jazz) can torch it for 34 in the final season game, you know the team is ridicuously deep
It was our best game in the series so far. We had the game if we had made some layups and sunk some free throws. Ty Corbin made some effort to go with the big line up. I think we would have won at least 1 game in the series with our momentum going into the playoff, but everything was destroyed when the rotation was messed with.
I won’t take anything from the Spurs, but the Jazz are just flat out soft. Favors and DC were the only two that actually played with some intensity. It is frustrating to see a bunch of wusses wear the Jazz uniform. Remind me again why Karl is such a bad idea for the coaching staff, oh yeah he might hurt someone’s feeling by telling them to play like men. Also, I understand that this Corbin’s first playoffs as a coach but come on, Howard starting??? How is that veteran experience working out? Howard isn’t the deciding factor, but it is one of those poor leadership decisions that put the team behind before game one even started. It isn’t the first time this year Corbin replaced good chemistry for veteran experience.
chemistry was definitely killed with lineups. Corbin did some good things with playsets and game prep, but you cant win shooting 20-30% trying to match their 50-60%
Corbin plays Harris, Hayward, Sap, Fav, Al at the end of games when its serious because they are the best players and we have advantages. Makes no sense to not have the same philosophy to start games the same way. Lineups are really the only thing I would discredit Corbin for. Its too bad because he does some really good things.
I really Millsap and Haywards struggling on the offensive end becuase of Howard and Big Al. Carroll did look for his shot, and Al just hold the ball and shoots or passes late in the shot clock were Hayward has to rush a move and shot. Millsap only gets touches outside the paint late in clock and has to shoot.
@Damien agreed!! They are soft.
Maybe there is something I am not seeing about Haywards’s very very good defense on Tony Parker as Parker shot well over 50% and scored 27 points. I wonder how many he would have scored without that great defense. Hayward needs to be able to defend and score, 1 for 10 shooting is just not acceptable. Favors did look great.
No way omar. Not last night. Big Al doesnt deserve much praise for this series but he didnt hold the ball much last night. Howard had very few touches as well. Sap and Hayward just had bad games last night. It happens to everyone. Al had two in a row to start the series. Hayward did have some great D though. They even mentioned it on ESPN.
@Deb: Hayward played some great D last night. Every shot was contested and many were so close to being blocked. Parker is just playing so well that not even good D can stop him. It was to the point where there wasnt much more Gordon could do in the second half, Parker was just gonna score. Also a lot of his 4th quarter points came against Tinsley and Harris. I agree about the offense though. It was bad.
Anybody remember how Tony Parker was rumored to be a trade possibility for the Jazz around draft time? We would have been pretty good this year.
@Deb he has made Ginobli a non factor in this whole series. The points Parker got were against other people not Hayward. Hayward was forcing him to shoot jumpers and he missed 5 straight then Hayward went out and he started scoring. He scored 16 points in the 4th quarter and did not miss a shot when Hayward was not out there. So that means the first three quarters he was 5-12 only shot 2 free throws had 11 points. Also keep in mind when Flopinobli came in the game he was switched off on him.
@JRN5150, your right, I meant on the periphery I guess. The offense would just be Al posting then he kicks out then the player the ball is kicked out to holds the ball a little than he throws it back to Al, then Al dribbles and spins some, then either shoots or passes out with like 5 seconds left. Its more of a system issue. I think if Hayward was running with the faster squad or was creating the offense he would have a better game, is what I meant. Big Al didn’t really hold it this game, the offense just looked slow and motionless.
What is with all of the Spurs love? They are a deeply flawed team. Half of their starters and all of their bench wouldn’t get paying time on most squads, but Ty Corbin doesn’t know how to attack their weaknesses. For all of our talk about our down low players in Jefferson, Millsap, Favors and Kantor, we are getting outplayed by Duncan, Bonner and Diaw. It is pathetic. The Spurs are as weak inside as they were last year when they were bounced from the first round by Memphis. Jefferson refuses to attack Duncan’s body, Favors simply doesn’t have the offensive moves to get past Bonner and Millsap is afraid of Diaw. This is a series that we should be winning. Our strengths are their weaknesses, and we have done a good job of defending the 3 pt. line, but our big men are afraid of frankly lesser players (yes that even included Duncan at this point in his career). I can give Jefferson a 1 or 2 game pass because this is his first playoffs as a starter, but what is Millsap’s excuse? Diaw is a borderline worthless player, that is totally taking Millsap out of the game. All of the talk of the Spurs winning the championship is just loser talk so that we can feel better because we will have been beat by the best.
Did you know that since march they have lost only 2 games. And their margin of victory was over 16 points.
