I have a confession to make

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.OK, so most of us have been really anticipating this draft, even though its one of the weakest in recent years. And ive been sorta known for not really being interested in euros, and ive said that they 95% wont turn out…
until now
Enes Kanter, he is something special. He is a solid 7 footer, a true center that the Jazz need. ive been thinking about him a TON lately and i have totally grown on him, being told hes already in the US, and that theres not going to be any buyout problems. Right now im still leaning towards Knight, but if KOC drafts Kanter, ill be totally fine with that. Maybe get Burks, Singleton, Jimmer, or Morris with the 12 and your set.
BUT what happens with this…
Center-(Big Al), Kanter, Memo
PF-Big Al, Millsap, Favors, Evans
when Kanter develops into a starting center, we would have to trade millsap, if we still have him. then it would look more like
C-Kanter, (Big Al), Memo
PF-Favors, Big Al, Evans
whats your input on Kanter??? should we get him or Knight???
When do we trade Millsap???? unless he plays the 3…

I personally think we have to get rid of Memo, somehow some way. If the Jazz are going to go younger like OKC, you have to get rid of him. I think the Jazz are in need of a SG/SF rather than a PG right now. For Millsap, I think you give him one or two more years to become quicker and play the 3. If nothing pans out of that then you trade him. He works too hard and helps out way too much just to drop him.
It’s a really hard decision to make, because the Jazz have bad memories about Euros C, just to see Fes, Kosta, etc. I saw yesterday this guy stats and his amazing near 17 rebs per game, just what the Jazz need. That make ous to think if he really could work in the best league in the world.
I´m not Euros Cs biggest fan, but could be nice if we can try.
And of course, Jimmer at 12 please!!!
Kanter scares me. When I think of him, I think of Greg Oden. I just don’t see him being a dominant player in the NBA. What we really need in terms of big men is a defensive center. I’d rather strengthen our weak positions, rather than add to our logjam of big men.
You should read that post from yesterday comparing Kanter to Koufos. He’s just another slow/short center.
Kanter is nowhere close to Koufos you would have to be blind to make that comparison.
@Colten, I read that post, and yeah, sometimes body types match, but I think Kanter is a lot stronger. You have to get down to the nitty gritty to know that. Think about how many reps he did (if it did that part of the combine, I forget)
@Zach, getting Kanter, we create trade opportunities for ourselves in one way or another, and with that we could possibly be building 2 spots instead of just 1.
I can’t wait for Friday to come..
@LK
thursdays the draft…
Kanter / Jimmer Baby!
But Knight / Burks or Williams/Jimmer would work for me too.
I think LK is excited for the thousands of draft posts to end.
Why don’t we have Evans develop his skills as a SF instead of PF?
How many BIGS do you think the Jazz need??? seriously? You are so off bro, think about it! Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Derick Favors, Big Fes, Ante Tomic, FOR GOD SAKES DUDE WAKE UP! WE NEED A PG!! IDIOT DRAFT JIMMER
Sap is a much stronger ballhandler than Evans, and so would be a better fit for trying the 3…I like Kanter, and I think he’ll be alright in the league (possibly really good, depending on his hunger) but I just don’t know if that’s smart for us. If Memo can come into training camp healthy, he’s definitely a great option for a backup big. No use getting rid of him unless we actually get something back. I still like Knight & Singleton/Hamilton for our picks.
Kanter should not be the target. Jefferson is here already who is everything Kanter supposedly could be minus the extreme long range. There is no way I would throw out a guy like that coming into their prime for a rookie who MIGHT get that good. There are people calling this kid Dirk 2 which is ridiculous.
Plus if Val’s buyout causes GM’s to shy away Kanter becomes a much more desirable target to teams that don’t have a big post scorer, which means a better return in a trade down, or trade up.
@Jazz Fan, REALLY? REALLY? I think I would rather have Kanter than Fes. We are realizing as much as we love Millsap, he isn’t the big we need. And well, Tomic is MOST LIKELY NEVER coming to Utah at the very least, if coming to the U.S. at all. Now go over your list, look at what I said, and tell me how many good bigs we have again? (I’m glad you didn’t say Memo. As much as I liked the guy before he was hurt, I think he is on the fast slide down.)
Secondly, give Harris a chance. And even if we were to draft a PG, there are better ones (for the Jazz. there are plenty of good things that Jimmer has, and I agree with ESPN that he will be a solid really good player in the right system) but we could draft someone better than Jimmer. (I need Patrick to back me up on this. He is one of the few people on this site that really think about what the Jazz should do.)
Kanters only value to us is to trade him to sombody who wants him for a good player.
If Memo has any class at he will ask to retire now. His career is over. He needs to step away and retire to turkey and live happily ever after. I wish Him well.
Kanter isn’t a solid 7 footer… not quite.
Oooo, Dave801, you got us. Enes Kanter isn’t a 7 footer. He’s only 6′11.25″. He missed it by 3/4 of an inch so no one can ever refer to him as a 7 footer. Dang. That changes our whole argument about drafting him.
Yes thats why I can’t wait for friday to come. The draft will be over teams will be trading and KOC will recieve praise or condemnation.
I certainly hope its praise.
To me Kanter is 70% bust. Theres hope he’s the next Kevin Love but I don’t like the odds. I just pray Williams falls to #3 cause if we dont pick Kanter we’ll pick Knight and we don’t need a PG that bad and that means no Jimmer at #12. And I must have Fredette on this team!
