My Comprehensive Analysis of the NBA Labor Dispute

I DON’T CARE.

 JUST PLAY.

I  am not ashamed that you may have clicked on this expecting intelligent insight. You have been duped by a totally false headline.  There will be nothing comprehensive at all about this analysis.  In fact, it’s not even an analysis.  It is me begging the universe to please just let me watch the Utah Jazz play basketball this season.

Yesterday I found myself getting excited to hear that progress had been made in the lockout.  “Sweet, the owners have budged on their insistence for a hard cap! That’s great news! Now if they can come to an amicable agreement on how to split up the BRI, maybe both sides will be satisfied etc, etc. . .”

And then I realized.  I DON’T CARE how the BRI is split.  I DON’T CARE how hard the cap is.  I DON’T CARE if the midlevel exception is done away with or if there will be an amnesty clause.  At this point I DON’T CARE.

Please just play basketball.

It’s close. Right?  I mean, it’s going to happen, right?

I hope its close.  Do I dare hope?  Am I a fool for hoping?

I miss Gordon.  I miss Al and Paul.  I miss Enes.  I don’t  miss Raja, but I miss Devin and even CJ.  I really miss Derrick Freaking Favors.

So please.  Can we just play basketball?

Please?

Iwould totally agree and will forward on your comments to Fish..

  2. drew says:

amen. but there should be the same cap for all teams, thats the only thing i care about. i agree with you mostly though.

  3. French Dude says:

I miss Jocelyn, my favorite Jazz Dancer, we should cut Memo and use the money to convince her to come back….

  4. Chase says:

Ah yes French Dude. Jocelyn was smokin’ I met her one time and she’s even “nicer” in person.

End the lockout out, but could we have the same cap for all teams please? Let’s level this playing field.

My 5-year old daughter takes dance class from a Jazz Dancer. And the whole squad was at her elementary school fundraiser event thing. Aren’t you jealous now, French Dude?

  6. French Dude says:

@KC, i think so, even if i’m a little bit old and the flexibility of my body is too terrible to take dance class in an elementary school :)

Exactly…and anyone who thinks there will ever be a level playing field is a FOOL. All things in America are ruled by money. Big markets will always have more money and will always have the big names. If any of the current JaZz players turn out into anything, they wont be in Utah long. Get OVER it and play ….

  8. Jazzaholic says:

There can certainly be a more level playing field.

Cold weather and small markets will always be at a disadvantage, but if the big market teams can not pay more than a small market team, it makes a more level playing field.

If a small market team can actually offer a star more to keep him, it makes a more level playing field.

I do not care how the BRI is split, but a hard cap would go a long way to better competition.

Too bad this will be the key area of negotiation and be watered down to a soft cap, AGAIN!!!

Let us hope King David sticks to a hard cap. Give the small market teams a better chance to win a title.

  9. Chase says:

@Jazzman-of course there will NEVER be a level playing field but as Jazzaholic stated there can be a more level playing field. It’s looking like there will be no hard cap, however there will be adjustments to the current $1-$1 ratio for going into the luxury tax…Look for an amount of around $3-4 dollar tax for every $1 spend over the cap.

  10. Diana says:

I agree with Jazzaholic lets do the best we can at get a more level playing field.

    Me wants the basketball!

  11. Arne says:

Go play, greedy players (I venture 90% of the players would rather be in training camp than twiddle their thumbs or play video games right now).
