Up is down, left is right, Jazz are unstable, (but Nickleback still sucks)

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Wowzers, what a time to be a Jazz fan.
Yesterday, after seeing all the updates on Twitter about how Memo Okur has been authorized to practice again, I had to really sit back and think about that for a minute. Mehmet Okur. Tall guy from Turkey. Played for the Jazz with Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams, Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver, Wes Matthews and Pete Chilcutt. Okay, maybe not Chilcutt. But at this point the list may as well include Chilcutt, Jim Farmer, Bart Kofoed, Keith McLeod, Bobby Hansen and Walter Palmer.
In other words, guys who are ancient history.
The thought of Okur returning to the current squad almost feels like adding Mark Eaton to last years team. Fond memories frrm the past colliding with the reality of the here and now.
When Okur the deck last year against the Nuggets in the playoffs grabbing his ankle, it was almost unfathomable to imagine the team he would be returning to would be headlined by Devin Harris, Al Jefferson, Millsap, Raja Bell, Gordon Hayward and Derrick Freaking Favors. (Yes, after his display of power during the Celtics game, he will heretofore be referred to as Derrick Freaking Favors.) Oh yeah. New head coach too.
Who are these guys? And where is the Utah Jazz?
This level of turnaround and roster, nay, organizational flux is unprecedented in Jazzfanland. We really are witnessing the bizzaro Utah Jazz this year. It’s nuts.
In spite of all the insanity. (I mean, could you have written a weirder ending than the Nuggets game last night?) I still feel a sense of hope for the future. The team KOC has assembled (or is in the process of assembling) really could do some damage or make some noise.
And at least the games are interesting again.
But until then, as fans, all we can do is sit back and loosen up our jaw muscles in preparation for it to drop, because something unexpected is more than likely to happen. And we are not used to that.
Put the predictable Utah Jazz to bed. We are in all new territory here.
I just hope Memo can find his way around when he finally comes back.

When Memo comes back, I doubt you see him starting. It will be more a back up role. Its not the old Jerry, take your spot back and shake up our good line up days any longer.
I am like you though, even with the who are these guys feelings, I have hope. We arent getting blown out, we are competing. Eventually someone will step it up and start sealing the games for us. I am looking to see that next season though. The dust is still settling after the recent shake up..
Is it bad of me to be slightly annoyed with the saying, “we have a bright future”? I want a bright present, not just a bright future. It’s almost become a cop-out to make people feel better about their terrible team. We’ll always have a bright future, but in the process we’ll always have a terrible present while we continue to chase that future that is always ahead of us.
Hey adam, when the Jazz are back in the playoffs we’ll talk about the bright present. As long as they are below the eighth seed, all we have is the future.
Absolutely loved your title. Classic. I’m with you, Memo is a relic from the old team. We are a new team now. Hopefully he can put together a few good games towards the end of the season so we can at least offer him in a trade package in the off-season. Love Memo! But it’s time for the Jazz to move on, which I think they realize as well. We’ll see.
Haha Derrick Freaking Favors. Loving that guy. I’ll talk about the future all I want! Juan is right, that is all we got right now. I chilled out about the Jazz SO much after we traded Deron. I’ve just got a good feeling about our team. We’ll work out the kinks soon enough
I think we have a good and hopeful now.. Our losses are in single digits. Its only been 4 games since we got the new guys. They are still learning… We are competing. It sucks to lose, but whats not to love. Much better to lose with an inexperienced team by small numbers, than with a veteran team with history and blowout numbers..
Good post and i completely agree. Since the trade the games have been fun to watch again and since we have no clear cut star it’s fun to see who will step up and take over the game.
Im loving watching Harris and Favors and it adds an interesting element to the games since i have little to no knowledge regarding the two.
Whether we win or lose im enjoying watching basketball again and even though we’ve endured some heart breaking losses you can tell the players are back to having fun as well.
so lets just sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the season. we’ll see what kind of success tomorrow brings
I think I posted this somewhere else, but the Jazz actually have the three seed in the ‘effort playoffs’.
Sadly, teams like the Clippers and Cavs are ranked right up there with us.
It sure is nice that the coaches and players have more patience than most of the jazz fans. We have a great bunch of players and another year we will see a whole different Jazz offense, with speed and power, we have added the pieces everyone wanted now give them time to become adjusted to each other and the new staff.
I have no doubt that we will be proud of our Jazz.
NIckleback definitely sucks.
No, I actually like Nickelback. And James and Juan, both of you spelled it wrong. it’s nickel with an “EL” not an “LE”.
I think this is my favorite Nickelback song:

I consider it an honor to have spelled it wrong.
Right I kind of had the same response reading tweets about Memo, which is kind of funny since AK and Paul Millsap were on those teams too but I guess since they’ve been playing it doesn’t feel weird.. it feels like Memo left last year with everyone else.
I do think we have such a bright future like in next year. I think we would have been having a bright present (still possible) if the Deron lead Jazz didn’t give up for 2 months.
