Via Ric Bucher on twitter:

“I’m on vacation but you know I can’t pass a chance to serve and honor Jazz fans: Randy Foye signs 1 yr deal. Solid pick-up.”

I think this is an ideal pick-up and definite upgrade over Raja B****

    Stats according to ESPN:
    ‘07 10 PPG 3 APG 3 RPG .434 FG% .368 3P% .854 FT%
    ‘08 13 PPG 4 APG 3 RPG .429 FG% .412 3P% .815 FT%
    ‘09 16 PPG 4 APG 3 RPG .407 FG% .360 3P% .846 FT%
    ‘10 10 PPG 3 APG 2 RPG .414 FG% .346 3P% .890 FT%
    ‘11 10 PPG 3 APG 2 RPG .388 FG% .327 3P% .893 FT%
    ‘12 11 PPG 2 APG 2 RPG .398 FG% .386 3P% .859 FT%

Not liking his 3 point percentage decline but I think he still addresses our glaring weakness at the 3 point line and drawing fouls.

Good, I like the move. He has received criticism in the past but I’ve always liked him.

  3. Jake says:

    Were is being reported from?

  4. I’m not sure about this move. Foye is a respectable player, but what does his signing really mean to the roles of Burks, Murphy, Watson, and Tinsley? I’m trying to figure out how he really fits into the puzzle. He’s not really a point guard, and we already have Hayward and Burks at the shooting guard. Maybe another deal is in the works?

  5. Omar says:

Im with you JMC. This only makes sense if Jazz will play Burks a lot at PG, and Hayward gets a good chunk of backup SF minutes. As well as Burks looked, I cant see him playing less minutes than Foye. Burks and Foye is a pretty good backup backcourt. This signing spells the end of Watson or Tinsley.

  6. Omar says:

He shot 43% from 3 in the playoffs.

  7. Omar says:

Mo (cuz of his D) > Harris

    Marvin. >>>>>>>>>>>>> CJ and Howard

    Foye. >>>>>>>>> Watson
    Foye >> Tinsley

    The team is better.

  8. Well ur starting line up now is
    Pg mo
    Sg foyle
    sf hayward
    pf favors
    c al
with a great bench i know every thnks burks should be starting but i dont see it yet maybe spilt time with randy but not a full time starter yet
    pg watson tinsley
    sg burks murphy
    sfwilliams
    pf milsap
    C kanter

  9. We have a great bench solid scorers and randy adds speed to the starting line up i see alot of fast breaks and highlights in he near future

  10. JRN5150 says:

I dont think this changes the starting lineup really. Maybe if he replaces Hayward at starting 2. I dont think Marvin will come off the bench. Remember that Gordon was benched last year and it magnified his game. Maybe that is what we are after. If not I think Foye is a bench guy. I like the pickup a lot though.

  11. Jake says:

I don’t randy foye is going to start and I read a rumor that the Jazz do have another deal planned and its for Jimmer buts is just a rummor

  12. This move signals that the Jazz want better outside shooting (I hope that Ty Corbin is adjusting the offense accordingly). If we can kill it from 3 point range, we will be an offensive juggernaut. We already demand double teams in the low post.

  13. In my opinion, you don’t sign a guy to a one year deal if you wanted him as your starter. I see him backing up Hayward.

  14. We are so deep i have no clue what our starting lineup is gong to be!

  15. Jake says:

The rumor that I herd is that the Jazz are trying to get Jimmer from the kings I couldn’t get any info as to what we would give up for him because it was just a rumor I don’t see the kings takeing tinsley or watson for Jimmer. I deffinalty do not see the kings takeing bell for Jimmer again its just a rumor

  16. JuMu says:

Jake, shut the hell up about Jimmer, nobody wants Jimmer. I think Raja still did better than him last year.

  17. This is news to me! Thanks for breaking, JuMu. What a smart pickup. I seriously doubt that Foye will be starting though. I think our front office has just realized that there is no point in having bench players that can’t shoot a basketball or play defense.

This pickup only makes us better.Hayward play some small forward in order to free up time for Burks. Hayward is a very good defender at the 3, and has given Kobe and other good SFs a lot of trouble.

I imagine the idea is to give Burks ssignificant minutes, but if he’s negatively impacting the game, he can be subbed by a quality, high impact veteran in Foye.

Love this move. Tinsley and Watson are only going to go downhill. Tinsley is worth hanging onto for another season, but Watson, especially after his hissy fit about playing time, is most likely gone.

  18. Kevin says:

Actually JuMu, lots of people want Jimmer. Me included. Try to set aside your senseless hate for BYU and maintain some logic. And Jake, you already said “it’s just a rumor” so you don’t have to keep bringing it up. We know it’s just a rumor. Everything in the NBA is just a rumor until it’s official.

I love the Foye pickup. I am sick of having a one dimensional offense where having 3 awesome bigs does us no good cause every team knows that’s all we have.
