THE Utah Jazz

Posted by: Kevin on March 11th, 2011

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

If there’s one thing I am increasingly frustrated with, it’s the obsession of dwelling on past players.  The Utah Jazz roster has no mention of 3/4 the players that we constantly discuss on this site.  Now obviously I can avoid those posts if I don’t like them, and I generally do.  However, isn’t it healthy to move on and discuss the possibilities that we can realisticly attain?  Let’s support the Utah Jazz instead of dwelling on the Chicago Jazz or the players we’ve lost.  Personally, my favorite player on the team is Al Jefferson.  He is a beast and can own the paint.  Let us cheer for him and the other athletes that we are lucky to have here in Utah fighting in our corner.

Isn’t that Deron in the middle of your picture?

There’s no shame in remembering our past players. Should we forget about Stockton and Malone? The Williams, Boozer, healthy Okur, Brewer, surprising Millsap Jazz were a blast to watch. They could beat anybody when their offense was rolling, not that they were perfect, but we Jazz fans put our faith in them and went along for a great ride. Deron gave us over 5 great years of determination and winning and just about everybody loved him, but he gets traded and suddenly everyone hates him more than anyone. Jazz fans seem to have some weird ritual of hating everyone that was once on their team but no longer is. I agree that we should give the current team full support and Big Al’s amazing, but the past is something for Jazz fans to look back upon fondly and be proud of.

Sorry but a big part of the Utah Jazz is looking to the past and building on that. Would you have us not care about what Karl Malone has to say or using Jeff Hornacek as a shooting coach and then an assistant coach? What Jazz fan doesn’t love watching “the shot” by John Stockton. Yes, Al Jefferson is playing great right now and deserves our support and encouagement, but that does not mean we have bad-mouth anyone not on the team anymore.

Okay let me explain myself cause I obviously didn’t present this correctly cause each of you misunderstood (my fault). I love remembering past players and thinking of the great times they gave us, and what they did for the franchise. what I am frustrated with, is those on this site who continuously day dream about how we’d be if we still had Wes Matthews or if we never traded Brewer for nothing.

@Shockwave, it’s called not changing my picture yet, so yeah…..Deron is there. But review my posts and see how oten I dwell on what it would be like if he were here.

@Deb…you kinda took that and ran with it. I don’t know where you got the idea that I didn’t like “The Shot”. Once again, mostly my fault but I think you read what Zach posted and it caused more confusion.

Now understand, I don’t “hate” Deron, or Brewer, or Korver, or Stockton, or Malone, or Matthews or whoever else you guys want to throw in there. I am just wishing we could stop thinking of how we would be if we had Boozer, Deron, Matthews, and whoever else on the team. Cause they aren’t here.
