Meet
Bosh and Wade….is a ring in sight?

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Chris Bosh will be joining dwayne wade in Miami. Now this is not really a surprise but now that it has happened do the top east teams need to worry. Miami has been good but now with Bosh at Wade’s s how far will they go next season? What does this do for Lebron’s thinking and how does this affect the rest of free agency?

I don’t think this will bring Miami another ring quite yet. When Wade got a ring, he had a still-dominant Shaq. Bosh isn’t as good as Shaq was in my opinion, even if just due to shear size and defense.
Miami will be better, but I don’t think this means championship for them…yet.
Well i hear LeBron is picking between Miami and the Cavs but i believe he goes back to the Cavs and then the Cavs sign Mike Miller.
Now to the question of if the top teams in the East need to worry? In all truth it just depends on who they can put around them. Every winning team has at least 2 clear cut stars or more. It is the supporting cast that is the key to a successful team. So you cannot say at this moment how successful this team will be next year till we see who they add around them. They are certainly on the right track to being a successful team though.
Now when i read on what people say about Bosh it really surprises me. Bosh is one of the most underrated stars in the game. He put up consistent and LEGIT numbers in Toronto and he is very athletic and very explosive. He has a good first step and a nice 15 foot jump shot. Did i mention he averaged 24 pts, 11 reb, and 1 blk per game last year and is a career 79.6 percent FT shooter who is just 26 as of MARCH 24th.
Trent- Yes D-Wade had Shaq but Shaq and Bosh are 2 different players. Shaq’s natural position is as a C and he would just use he body do bulldoze he way to the basket. He also had that nice 5 ft shot. Bosh’s natural position is the PF and he uses his athleticism and explosiveness to score and get to the basket. Also if I am correct, Bosh is younger then what Shaq was when he first arrived in Miami. Shaq was 31 when he first landed in MIAMI… Bosh will be just 26.
I forgot to mention that Shaq was and still is a liability down the stretch when it comes to FT. Bosh is not. Free throws are HUGE in EVERY game especially during the play-offs. They WIN and LOSE games!
completely agree with anthony.. again. bosh is underrated in the nba and if the heat can sign a few more good/great veterans on minimum contracts then they will easily be the eastern conference champs with little competition. they will be able to sign on great players for cheaper now that the two are on the heat, just for the very good chance of being apart of that legacy.
wade and bosh with a good cast will easily outperform james with a good cast.
i think the real huge news for utah now is that amare went to the knicks and chicago is wanting boozer the most now.. which is not good at all for a utah in terms of trading.. we should have acted faster and made some moves, we may have just been left in the dust.
Sure Anthony, I’m not saying Bosh isn’t good. I think he may be underrated too, but Shaq had a bigger impact on the game than Bosh has. Bosh will get better, I agree, but he can’t clog the middle like Shaq did. Bosh definitely has the free-throw advantage, but Shaq already brought Miami a ring without shooting free-throws well.
I don’t doubt that Bosh will bring them closer to a ring, but I also don’t think they are automatically there just by bringing in Bosh. We will have to see what other players they bring in to be the supporting cast.
And to tell the truth, I am much happier to hear that these two are likely ending up in Miami rather than Chicago
Oh, another thought just came to me. Shaq had a solid backup in Alonzo Mourning. Who will Bosh have? Who will be the Heat’s center? We don’t quite know yet, but that could have a huge effect on how good the Heat will be.
I do agree with you trent that Shaq had a big impact on the game but like i said earlier we do not know not who will be put around the 2 but bosh will still be great. Let me point out that Shaq was toward the end of his prime when he arrived in and Bosh is just beginning of his.
They are not title contender until we see what else they add to the team but now they have the 2 stars you need to win the title. I believe that they will add solid pieces. I could see a title there in the next 3-5 year for sure.
Don’t forget the year that they won the title, Wade was by far the main reason because of his postseason play. Yes he would not of won it without Shaq because he needed a star big-man but Wade was the reason they won. He had Shaq then and now he has Bosh. Bosh WILL bring them closer to the title because you really got to believe that Pat Riley will add other solid peices. He is a smart guy after all who has won many titles already.
Wade needed Shaq to win a title then and now he needed another big plus the supporting cast to win the title. He already got the big (Bosh) and now the supporting cast will come.
Drew, the jazz have always wanted to bring back Boozer that is why they have waited and not done a S&T. The Bulls are after Boozer and Lee as their plan B and you have to believe that Lee will come cheaper so he could be the possibility there. Yes i could see Boozer there as well but they are going to have to give around 15 million a year for him. The jazz would give 12-13 a year for 6 years if they had to. So do you believe that if the Bulls offer 13 mill for 5 years and the Jazz offered 13 mill for 6 years, do you think Boozer would take the Bulls or the Jazz offer? I hear Boozer wants that 6th year so i would believe he would take the Jazz offer. Also we have a better team so that just adds to the deal. I see it coming down to the Jazz or Bulls for Boozer. I’ll give it a 50/50 chance he comes back.
I did not proof read that so it may not make sense. Ha.
Yes, their success does really depend on the supporting cast, and as of right now, there is none. I had to laugh when I read about the deal this morning and found out that Miami only has two players under contract, Chalmers and Beasely. Add Wade and Bosh, and that leaves roughly 15 million under the cap? To sign 9 players? Ouch!
Not to say that the Heat won’t gladly go over the salary cap and maybe even the luxury cap. Once we see what Riley puts together, we’ll know just how good this team can be.
I really don’t think our viewpoints are any different. I think they will be really good in 3-5 years as well.
My guess is the team won’t be as good as the Celtic big three was a few years ago with Rondo and Perkins solidifying the starting line-up and a solid cast of role-players already on the team. How do you think it compares to that Celtic team Anthony (and other jazz fans)?
The Celtic big 3 with the team they built around them the year they won the title is FAR better then the what the Heat have right now. Even if the Heat were to sign LeBron they would really have no money to build a solid supporting cast and i would still say that Celtic title team would be much better then what the Heat would have. Im very interested to see who they add though.
On the Jazz side of things, the Cavs, Nets, and Bulls are all really going to push for Boozer because they feel they could get LeBron with Boozer. I personally don’t think Boozer matters to LeBron. If the Cavs were to get Boozer they would need to do a sign and trade with the Jazz but now i feel LeBron goes to NY or back to Ohio. I still see the Bulls or Jazz getting Boozer and David Lee signing with either the Nets or Bulls. I hope the Jazz bring back Boozer.
they need to fill out the roster still before they can think about getting a ring.
Yes they do. Now to the Jazz, if Boozer were to go to Chicago then the Jazz should try and work a S&T for a big trade exception and a guy like a James Johnson. I like this kid. At least then the Jazz would not be left with nothing.
I knew if Boozer was not coming back he would go to Chicago.
Boozer is HEADED to Chicago.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DID FOR THE JAZZ BOOZER!!! GOOD LUCK IN CHICAGO!!! STILL ONE OF MY FAVE PLAYERS!!!
