Flopping and the Utah Jazz?

Posted by: Van on February 20th, 2013

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

Just a quick question I wanted to put out there for everybody.

Here I am watching the Celtics/Lakers game tonight that is being broadcasted by Jeff Van Gundy and the talking heads are commenting on the play of Jared Collins who now plays for the Celtics. Dwight Howard is called for an offensive foul for shoving under the basket and Jeff chimes in how Collins is a known flopper and then proceeds to say this.

“If you were taught by the Utah Jazz, then flopping is in your blood…”

Curious, I wonder what made Jeff to make that leap, say more so than any other team? Now Im under no illusion that the Jazz dont have players that currently flop on occasion(as its a problem all over the NBA) as well as a few in the past, but to make it an orginizational issue thats taught to players?

Pretty weak if you asked me, but then again maybe John Stockton peed in his cheerios once upon a time…

*Check that, I remember why Jeff hates us, he got fired after the Rockets lost in 7 to the Utah Jazz in 2007, but anyone think he still might be holding onto that?

  1. Stockton and Hornacek were pretty good floppers back in the day. It was never as bad as it is now tho. I’d call Stockton’s flops more of an exaggeration rather than a flop.

  2. Its not the first time he has thrown little jabs at the Jazz. 1 time he insulted Stocktons assists #. He said basically he got alot more at home because we imbellished stats.

He probably is harboring some spite for us from his coaching days. But I think it has more to do with him trying to overcompensate for being such a terrible/unbearable/obnoxious announcer, as well as small genitalia.

First of all he doesnt know what he’s talking about. Thats Jason Collins playing for the Celtics. Not his brother Jarron that played for the Jazz.

    Stupid is as stupid does..

Well, Raja WAS on our team…twice….actually still is….but he’s in Miami golfing….

Someone tell Spence Checketts to bring this up next time they have Stan Van Gumby on.

  7. KCJones says:
