Lockout Life

Since I have very little basketball to fill my time, I’ve decided to learn how to play the guitar. So while I’m struggling with learning chords, I’ve started to write songs… unfortunately the lockout has proved to hinder even this part of my life.

Here’s my first song:

To the tune of Rebecca Black’s Friday:

First Verse:

7 a.m. waking up in morning
gotta log on nba.com
gotta read the news, any lockout moves?
Not seein’ anything, the time’s still goin’
Tickin’ on and on, why’s nobody rushin’?
Gotta log off before I scream
Gotta turn off ESPN, I need a life

Waiting for an update
Wanting a new CBA
They gotta make their minds up
How much of this can fans take?

Chorus:

We’re in a lockout, lockout
I’m not down with the lockout
Everybody’s waiting for some basketball, basketball
Lockout, lockout
No hooping in a lockout
Everybody’s looking forward to the end.

arguing arguing, (Yeah!)
arguing arguing, (Yeah!)
sal-ar-y cap

Not lookin’ forward to the lockout.

Second Verse:

10:45 I log onto to Twitter
My timeline is full of CJ Miles
#whatupdoe, #whatupdoe
Who knows what he’s saying
He’s got this, we’ve got this
This is the lockout life, yeah
He’s got this, we’ve got this
He needs a haircut….

Waiting for an update
Wanting a new CBA
They gotta make their minds up
How much of this can fans take?

Chorus:

We’re in a lockout, lockout
I’m not down with the lockout
Everybody’s waiting for some basketball, basketball
Lockout, lockout
No hooping in a lockout
Everybody’s looking forward to the end.

arguing arguing, (Yeah!)
arguing arguing, (Yeah!)
sal-ar-y cap

Not lookin’ forward to the lockout.

Bridge:

Last month was the draft, draft
Kanter and Burkes passed the test
They, they, they so excited
They so excited,
Hoping they’ll play ball this year

Dwill may go overseas…And Nowitzki soon afterwards
I just want this lockout to end.

Chorus:

We’re in a lockout, lockout
I’m not down with the lockout
Everybody’s waiting for some basketball, basketball
Lockout, lockout
No hooping in a lockout
Everybody’s looking forward to the end.

arguing arguing, (Yeah!)
arguing arguing, (Yeah!)
sal-ar-y cap

Not lookin’ forward to the lockout.

  1. Its pretty good, Lowery! I’m not looking forward to the lockout either.

  2. Fan says:

This is great Lowery, I would so much rather see gamesmanship on the basketball court than gamesmanship (or whatever they call it) in negoations. Are they even negotiating, I am not sure. I can’t even figure out where the truth in the whole thing lies.

  3. franklin says:

Can you sing this in a video and put it on youtube?

  4. @Jase Thank you!

@Deb Thanks. I would too… and as far as negotiations, i feel like there isn’t much of that.

    @Franklin I think i’m going to! :]

  5. Colby says:

    Fan-#######-tastic!
If you don’t sing this and put this on youtube with your permission I will. This could be viral

  6. I’ll do it this week everyone. :]
