Do you want Rondo?

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. So, Celtics PG Rajon Rondo is on the trading block. I’ve always been a fan of the guy, and I would love to see him in Utah. Your thoughts?

I do. Always have. He can’t shoot a jumper but he brings so much more to the table. Triple double last night. Plus devins trade value is as high as its ever been since he got here. It would take more than just devin though. But I highly highly doubt it happens.
Right now, I’ll do a Harris+Big Al for Rondo+Allen trade, or something close to that, possibly involving another franchise. This team needs to shake. This team needs to be efficient in up-tempo AND half-court offense modes.
Some weeks ago, I posted a poll on the subject. While Rondo ended up as being the favourite between Jazz fans, Calderon was really close. Both guys are on the trade market. I Hope KOC is at the phone every single minute.
As much as I love watching Rondo dribble and pass NO, I’d rather trade for Ray Allen. We don’t need a player that brings drama to this team. He has been playing alongside 3 All stars. He doesn’t shoot very well and neither does anyone else on our team. He is a glorified Harris, really fast and can get to the rim but he passes better. The last 4 games Devin is shooting something like 60% from the field and 50% from 3 pt land but we are still losing games. We need a guy that can score at will but mostly get his teammates involved. If we had 6 players score 15 points a night, we would win games.
Rondo is a perfect Jazz PG. He is a pass first player who is also very efficient. He doesn’t shoot great from outside, but his overall FG% is excellent.
I do, but I think he’s overvalued by the Celtics and we’d have to give up too much for him.
I like Calderon because I think we could get him for Devin + CJ or Devin + Bell or Devin + 2nd round pick or something and not have to overpay like we would for Rondrama.
I wish we could hold out for Andrew Harrison
Rondo, Allen, Howard, Millsap, and Favors – who doesn’t like that?
You offer Jefferson, Harris, and Miles you may get that deal done.
Yeah, I don’t know what they would want in return. This aging Celtics team it seems would highly value draft picks in what is supposed to be a very good draft where we potentially have two lottery picks. I would give Harris and the Golden State pick and our first round pick if we don’t make the playoffs if we can do that.
Rondo could command quite a bit. The Celtics want to trade but they are not desperate. Maybe something like Harris/Kanter/Miles and 1 or 2 first rounders could do it but i think they would want more than that. The celtics wont trade rondo to the Jazz without grabbing 1 or 2 of our young guys.
Brandon dont ever post again lol.. Kanter isnt going anywhere..
I think another team is needed in the trade scenario. Raptors ? Warriors ? Magic ? Wizards ? hmm …
lol I wouldn’t do that trade either but I think that would be the asking price. I just think that Rondo is going to command quite a bit and Harris/Jefferson/Miles isnt going to be enough
I wouldn’t mind him on our team. But if the Celtics trade him they are fools. He is the only young good player on their team. They need to build around him and trade some of their old guys.
I also think the Celtics would ask too much for him. We would have to give up too much I think.
Rondo would fit in perfectly with this team. The offense is centered around our bigs and having a PG that can actually create space and draw off defenders on his dribble ability would take away a lot of the problems this team is having without shaking it up too much. Problem with that is that I can’t see a reason why the Celtics would take Jefferson back, in case you did not know he was part of the Garrnet trade that sent him to Minnesota so I am not sure they would be call that a good trade for them. On the other hand Garrnet can play center so I think they would bite on a trade with Harris+Millsap. Rondo is a good player when he has talent to move the ball to, not to mention he already has a very similar offensive game to Harris so the team would not have that hard of a time adjusting to him.
NO. We need a veteran PG who can get the young players into the flow of the game. Veteran leadership is what this young team needs. That’s what helped Malone and Stockton to develop (e.g., Ricky Green played during Stockton’s first year; after that year, Green left, if I remember correctly).
Anyway, if the Celts are rebuilding, they would want our young players and/or draft picks who have shown potential.
I just wish that Rondo had a better attitude. I’ve read, and seen interviews with other Celtic players, and Rajon is not exactly a well liked guy.
As far as his attitude is concerned, I for one think that would be a tough team to play on. Think about it, the original big three came together towards the end of their careers and they all had big heads. They WERE the team and rondo obviously feels like he deserves more credit. Does he? Maybe. Should act out? Maybe not but you have to admit that it would be difficult to be a great player like rondo and always be overshadowed by those three.
I would like rondo on our team under a few conditions though… No deal for me if they want any of our 4 lotto guys, favors, Hayward, kanter or burks. Any combo of Harris with either al or Milsap with cj or bell as fillers would be fine by me. Also I wouldn’t mind giving either our 1st or golden state pick. If they don’t like that then no deal.
Also I would have to be confident that rondo would be comfortable in Utah which he might not be. Im not too sure how you figure that out either. But you could probably sell him on this being his team but I don’t knownifn you wanna do that either.
You people are delusional. Rondo is a prima donna glamour queen punk. He’d die before he played in Utah. ANd he’s overrated anyway.
Doc Rivers:
“My relationship with Rajon is as strong as it has ever been,” he said. “Our communication has never been better. I want him here. I can say with almost 100 percent certainty he will be here with us when the season ends. I’m tired of this stuff. It’s not fair.”
Calderon is not on the trade block. Raptors said they will not move them
Really guys, Harris, Miles and Jefferson wouldn’t be enough to land Rondo? Also keep in mind that they traded Al when he was a rookie for one of the most dominate Centers at that time (Garnett). Garnett is now past his prime and Al has developed into one of the top 5 Centers in the league.
