Greg Miller, Jazz Owner & CEO

After nearly three decades of helping his father, the late Larry H. Miller, expand his business empire, Greg Miller became the owner and CEO of the Utah Jazz in April 2009. Greg also became the CEO of 39 automotive dealerships throughout the Western United States and a variety of other business ventures, including Prestige Financial, Jordan Commons, Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatres, KJZZ-TV, Miller Motorsports Park, the FANZZ chain of sports apparel stores, and Energy Solutions Arena. Though professionally known for being a business owner and entrepreneur, he is also a loving husband, a father to six children, and a grandfather to one. If not in the office or on the court, you will likely run into him riding his bike, camping or four-wheeling with his family in Moab.

Laurence from New York, NY asks:

Mr. Miller in all seriousness if you are not willing or able to make the Jazz a championship caliber team then please consider selling the team to myself and my partners. Your response is appreciated.
Laurence, I don’t know what you have been watching or where you’re getting your information, but we are working extremely hard to bring an NBA championship to Utah. Last season we ventured into luxury tax territory for the first time ever in pursuit of the title. Over the second half of last season, our team had one of the best win-loss records in the league. Unfortunately, we were eliminated from the playoffs in the second round by the Lakers, who went on to win the title. Kevin O’Connor and our basketball operations team work tirelessly to make our team more competitive, and I support them. As the summer unfolds, we hope to be able to make our team even better at every opportunity. Thanks for the offer to purchase the team, but it’s not for sale.

Kyle from Hyrum, UT asks:

Hey, is there anyway you could hook me up to compete in any of those halftime and timeout activities on the court?
Kyle, the contestants are chosen at random from among the crowd. Next season, many of the contests will be using text entries to select the winners, so bring your phone to the game and enter. Good luck.

Austin from Cedar City, UT asks:

Why did you unveil the color scheme and logo so far apart from the uniforms?
It wasn’t our call. The timing for unveiling logos and uniforms is being driven by the NBA merchandising and licensing division. The league is planning to release the new uniform designs on August 16th. New jerseys will be available at FANZZ stores that afternoon.

Jason from Provo, UT asks:

There were quite a few announcements that the new court would be shown at the draft party but I never heard anything come of it. What happened?
The plan was to have the floor down to unveil at the Draft Party, but about three days before, we were informed by our maintenance folks that the finish on the new paint job wasn’t fully sealed, and we needed to let it sit and cure some more in the heat. We are looking for another opportunity to show off the new floor when it’s ready. Stay tuned.

Lisa from Hollywood, CA asks:

I like following the Jazz on social media, but the information is spread out all over the place, between Facebook, Twitter (including your “tweets”) Jazzbots, and 1320KFAN.com, as well as utahjazz.com. Is there any plan to consolidate the social media into one place?
Social media is one of my hot buttons. I met with our management team several months ago and challenged them to develop a strong social media platform for the Jazz, and that challenge was met last week with the release of the new utahjazz360.com website. We made utahjazz360.com to be the one-stop shop for all Jazz social media, blogs, videos, etc. So now, instead of us promoting to follow the Jazz on Facebook, Twitter and the rest, we now have just two places that fans can find all things Jazz: utahjazz.com, the official “team” website; and utahjazz360.com, the official “fan” website.

Kevin from Draper, UT asks:

I'm a huge Jazz fan that's moving to Ohio, and I'm scared I might not be able to watch a lot of Jazz games any more. Is there any way that I can still watch Jazz games besides using NBA League Pass?
Kevin, there are three ways for you to watch the Jazz from Ohio. 1) NBA League Pass, offered on DirecTV and most cable systems; 2) NBA League Pass – Broadband HD, offered on the NBA.com website with all games streamed in HD. The third way is a little trickier, but if you go down to Best Buy and purchase a SlingBox, you can hook it up to a TV here in Utah and via an internet connection. “sling” the games to yourself to watch in Ohio. Good luck with the move.

Chris from Pittsburg, PA asks:

Being a Jazz fan from Pennsylvania isn't easy; 10:00 p.m. start times, driving to Cleveland to see a game, and no promotions or contests for residents outside of Utah. Any ideas how to include out of state fans?
Chris, thanks for staying a Jazz fan from afar. Unfortunately, the NBA restricts the distance we can offer promotions to our fans to a 75 mile radius from our arena. The rule is in place primarily to keep the teams in the Eastern Conference from poaching fans from close, competing markets i.e. Boston / New York; Philadelphia / Washington. Sorry. I wish we could offer some promotions for you and our other faithful fans outside Utah, but league rules prohibit it.

Caleb from West Point, UT asks:

Why would we ever want to change our COLORS! I think it looks dumb now! I like the Blue & White! But green and yellow? Just ... not cool!
Our new logo is the result of thousands of requests from fans to reconnect with the history of the Jazz by going back to the old logo and the J-note. Just give it a chance. I think you’ll change your mind after you see it center court on the playing floor. It really looks great.

Dean from Provo, UT asks:

Your father was great and showed a lot of compassion for Derek Fisher during his daughter’s eye cancer. Do you ever get tired of the fans disrespecting Derek when he travels to Utah?
Yes it bothers me a great deal to hear our fans boo Derek. Derek is a real genuine gentleman and a great father, and does not deserve to be booed by our fans or anyone else.

Clint from Blackfoot, ID asks:

I was told that your dad has a book out about his life and what he did for Utah Jazz and Utah. Is this true and where can I get it?
My dad’s book, “Driven”, the autobiography of Larry H. Miller, was published recently. You can find it at Deseret Book, as well as most book stores in Utah, the bookstores at SLC International Airport, and online at major booksellers like Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble. Here is the link to purchase it at the Deseretbook.com website: http://deseretbook.com/item/5041546/Driven_An_Autobiography
