Meet
Randy Foye

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.We need to remember that Foye is in his 7th year so this is what we are going to get from him.
Well first off he is not good at guarding the P&R roll man. The good news about this though is he is not going to be the one guarding the role man haha. Clippers did some funky things. Either Blake Griffin is an idiot or they are doing ridiculous defensive switches. Blake would switch on the P&R and allow Foye to guard the big man. So obviously we are not going to be doing that hopefully.
He is not great guarding the P&R. He is pretty slow. Most of the PG I watched him play against went right around him.
When he is in the other team shoots a great percentage from the 3 point line. People he was guarding shot 42% from three last year.
He is not great offensively. To be honest he is not even that good. He is horrible Iso, P&R, off screens and off cuts. The ONLY thing offensively that he is good at is spot ups. So for those hoping that he is going to get so many more minutes then Burks and he is going to make our team better you are going to be severely disappointed when he gets in the game. If we are going to stick him in it should be when Al is in the game and he should just sit in spots and shoot threes. But if that is all he does why does he deserve minutes over Burks who does a lot more?
I watched the game where he started vs the Jazz. We blew them out in this game. This would be the exact situation that we are going to put him in minus he will be playing against the 2nd teams. But he played the PG for the 2nd team in this game. So he played against Earl when he ran the PG. Here are my thoughts.
First play of the game he tries to take Millsap off the dribble and can not. Makes a horrible pass which is intercepted by Jefferson. The only good thing is he runs down Millsap and tries to make a play of the fast break but can not. Runs a P&R gets the space he needs but his jump shot is not very pretty. It is sideways. Runs the P&R again and turns the ball over. He is not good on the P&R at all and makes horrible decisions with the ball. His 3 point shot looks different then his regular shot and I think that is why he makes a better clip from 3. Earl could easily guard him. He is not quick off the dribble. He gets out hustled by Earl on an offensive rebound.

Well personally I think Foye is a great option for matchup situations. If we have a team that sinks defensively on us then having him on spot ups with Marvin on the perimeter will unclog the post. He is a good passer and I think your underrating him on break trasition plays. And he will be pretty awesome coming in against a second unit. Most of Blakes alley oop dunks that I saw were from Foye. The dominating plays dont show up on stats and as long as the turnover ratio is clean then he will do alot of good for us. Both him and Mo seem to work well with talented low post .
@Jazzed I agree he is a good addition IF and this is a big IF we use him as a spot up player and not other things. His decision making from what I saw was bad. He is not quick. He is a great spot up shooter from three but other then that he is average at best IMO
I really like Foye as a backup. And I really like the combo of Burks and Foye cuz they compliment each other so well. Foye spot up will open lanes for Burks to get to the rim, and once he trust Foye, drive and kick, Foye open threes. So Im envisioning Kanter and Burks P&R and P&P while Foye spots and spreads with either Marvin or Hayward also spotting and spreading, and either Favors or Sap rounding out the line up killing the boards.
It seems like the pieces we added were to get closer to what the spurs do offensively. Which will be real interesting to see how Al fits that. When Kanter and Favors get comfortable with their offensive skills I think they are both skilled and unselfish about moving the ball on offense. We have some pretty good talent to run more of a motion or flexed offense. Millsap was good at that when Sloan ran the flex before Al showed up. Al isnt as bad as we talk on him, but he does kill ball movement. So did Earl, and I thought Harris kinda sucked at it too.
