Reaction to Derons return. Did you really think it through Jazz fans?

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

I’m sorry fellow Jazz fans, but I was shocked by the majority reaction to booing Deron in his return to Utah. Did you really think the whole Deron Williams situation through?

It is unfortunate that he wouldn’t commit to the Jazz any longer. It’s also unfortunate that he may or may not have had something to due with Sloans sudden retirement. I understand these feelings. However, I believe that the harsh reaction to Derons return was a reaction of the heart, not the head.

How quickly we forget, that it’s because of Derons dedication to this franchise for many years, and his hard work during that time, that we were able to get so much in TRADE VALUE for him!

How do so many not understand that it’s because of his hard work (and a great front office) that we are in the situation we are in NOW!

I don’t want any opponent to feel comfortable in our building, but BOOING DERON dureing his introduction and EVERY TIME HE TOUCHED THE BALL!!??? WOW…..Come on Jazz fans, don’t think with your heart, use your head.

Where is the respect and gratitude for a player that had a huge impact on the future of this franchise because of his hard work and dedication when he wore our jersey?

On behalf of Jazz fans, I would like to offer Deron an apology, and thank him for the hard work and time he put in while he was here.

Although he wouldn’t commit long term, he gave his all and made himself an asset to this team, and this league, leaving the Jazz an asset in trade to make our franchise better in the long run. With or without him.

Thank you for reading,

-Nathan Scholz

I know this topic is a couple days old, but I really needed to vent on this topic. My disappointment in Jazz Nation hit a boiling point.

  2. Yea I agree. We got a lot out of the guy when he was in a Jazz jersey and when we traded him.
We are where we are now because of him and his hard work.

    THANKS D-WILL!

I was totally embarrassed when Deron was booed at the beginning of the game and every time he touched the ball. It was childish and tacky to boo someone who gave so much to this franchise not to mention what he did for the community. Literally thousands of people were helped by his generosity.

@Deb: Great point. I forgot to mention the thousands of people that were helped by his charity organizations. On and off the court, Deron was a large part of our community and our Jazz.

Does he play for the Jazz? He can suck it.

Oh, btw Lets for sure give credit to the front office. Picking 3rd between D-Will and CP3 is too much for the average person to comprehend…

Well said Nathan, Deb as well. Those people were an embarrassment to our city and fanbase

Thanks Colten for giving us some insight into the simple minds of those who booed. He doesn’t play for us right now so we boo him every time he touches the ball. So why don’t you boo every time Thabo Sefalosha touches the ball? He doesn’t play for us. Why don’t you boo every time Chris Douglas-Roberts touches the ball? He doesn’t play for us. Jazz fans need to think of the LEGACY of our team and what Deron contributed to that. I don’t expect you to cheer when he makes a shot against us, but you sure as heck don’t need to boo him either. Unless he starts a fight with one of our guys, or is named Kobe Bryant I don’t think he needs to be booed for touching the ball in ESA. We’re smarter and better than that.
