The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.So as Christon Rigby and a couple of other people have pointed out, Twitter has blown up with news of this trade.
Point Guard Devin Harris is being traded for Forward Marvin Williams. The Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks have both agreed to the trade, and are now finalizing details.

Devin Harris’ playoff stats:
30 mpg, 13 ppg, 3.8 apg
Mo Williams’ playoff stats:
21 mpg, 9.6 ppg, 1.4 apg
Marvin Williams’ playoff stats:
24 mpg, 7.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg
I’m not sure how I feel about this trade. Does it make us a better team? How does another Forward fit in on this team? We already have Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Jeremy Evans, Demarre Carrol and Gordon Hayward at the Forward position.
I theorize that this is part of another trade the Jazz have up their sleeve. Does this mean that the Jazz are getting ready to trade a Forward? Possibly Paul Millsap? This move is very perplexing to me. I only see this Marvin Williams guy as a trade piece, because quite frankly, he’s not that good.
Thoughts?

Williams/Tinsley/Watson
Hayward/Burks
Williams/Carroll/Hayward
Millsap/Favors
Jefferson/Kanter
Williams is a SF, not a PF. It works just fine. We got rid of our PG logjam and added at the position we needed to fill. I don’t see how that’s stupid.
By losing CJ and possibly Howard we needed a SF which this gives us. It also frees up Mo to be our starting PG which the Jazz obviously feel will be a better fit. Honestly this trade makes a lot of sense.
Thanks vor the clarification that he’s a SF Zach. I wish the NBA Player’s Files specified positions, as in point guard, shooting guard, power forward, small forward, etc.
But still….Isn’t Gordon Hayward supposed to be our SF? Or have the Jazz finally wised up and are going to play him at his natural 2 position. Hayward is significantly better when he plays the 2.
But still Hayward can’t shoot very well. And what about Paul Millsap? Where do we think this leaves him?
Is Corbin going to man up and tell Millsap that he is now officially our sixth man? I hope so.
Williams played in a iso dominant offense where Joe Johnson and Smith and Hartford, dominated the ball iso one-on-one ball. His stats may seem underwhelming, but he scored without dominating the balk had his best seasons shooting last season, and in the playoffs shot 50% from 3 against Boston. Really has become a great shooter, And he is long 6′9, the jazz would have a bigger line-up with Marvin than with Millsap at the 3!! Great rebounder for position. A true 3. Hayward is staying at the 2, and the best news is that Burks is the backup PG, ala Harden type position. This is great news. So happy!!
Now all we need to do is trade Al and then Marvin Williams won’t have to get stuck in another iso offense
Sorry Dallan but your # 8 jersey if worn by Williams will read MA Williams. That is is MO Williams returns back to his old # 25. I think this trade will work out fine. Let’s hope the sent Bell along with..
@disco, soooo true!!! Hahaha. Thats why I thought Al would already know the Hawks playbook. I think Millsap needs to decide pretty soon if he wants to come off the bench. If the Jazz keep talking to Green there is a good shot Burks is the backup PG.
Looks like Rockets take a page out of the Blazers book by offering a toxic contract to the Bulls backup Center. Also Blazers sign toxic deal with Hibbert..
I wish someone had poisoned Batums contract a little more severely. I really hope your right LK and Bell got dump to Hawks. They are trying to get to 35-40M to sign Howard (ATL hometown) and CP3 next year. Hawks are the only team that will welcome Bells contract, maybe Watson also.
Just remain CJ and Raja…
I’m SO glad the Jazz are starting to address weaknesses. Over the playoffs, Williams shot 50% from three, 38% last season, 34% career. Not spectacular career numbers, but he can hit. And freeing up Mo for the starting PG spot, maybe adding another young backup if Watson goes, which I hope he does. I love the guy, but his tantrum mid season was troubling. Can’t wait to see what the eventual plan is. I think there’s something bigger at work.
Great trade.
Puts Marvin in at 3, moves Gordon back to 2, where he plays better anyway, gives more time for Burks, by moving Mo to point and clears up the guard situation.
He can play defense, rebound and shoot the 3.
The way teams have been spending FA money, KOC is building the team the best way, through trades from desperate teams.
I like it!

I don’t know much about Marvin, but it does seem like a downgrade. No, we don’t need both Harris and Mo Williams on our team, but is this Marvin person really as good as Devin? I think they may have gotten the better end of the deal. But I do like the position they traded for; a small forward. CJ is on his way out (thank goodness) and I don’t see Raja on the team in the fall, so this is definitely a position that needed filling.
I think that Marvin is better than Harris and is a much needed help at the small forward position. He is a great shooter and can drive and I have heard he plays good defense but I can’t say for sure because there is no videos or any thing on the internet saying anything about his defence. I hope all this talk about his defense is true and for his size he is a great rebounder and will no doubt help the Jazz next year. I apploud the move KOC.
Mind = Blown.
I wasn’t expecting a trade like this at all. Awesome.
When is the mo willimas press cronference does anybody know?
