Slow starts outplayed.

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have yet to find any rhythm this season, playing only 3 all around good games out of 13. The Jazz are lucky we are 8-5 currently, but have gotten used to not playing well in the first half. The Jazz are usually excellent at home and terrible on the road, yet the Jazz are 5-2 on the road and 3-3 at home. Only 1 road game was all around great play, the other 4 were down by double digits and luckily pulled a win. At home we are playing the same, except not so lucky.
What I saw tonight:
The first quarter was our typical slow start only scoring 14 points. Like always, we start shooting outside shots even though they don’t fall. We lacked any defensive effort and had 6 turnovers (only had 7 against New Jersey).
Our 2nd quarter was the best, we played great defense and shot well. The 2nd unit came in and really sparked us back into the game. The 2nd half we got down by double digits again setting up our typical try for a comeback. We shot horrid, lacked any defensive effort when we got within striking distance. Al Jefferson lacked any boxing out and couldn’t pull a rebound to save his life. Millsap couldn’t find any rhythm on his outside shot yet still shot it.
CJ continued to shoot outside shots even though wasn’t shooting well either. Free throws were not made and we were out rebounded on the offensive end 5-16.
There was no help defense at all and even though our bench scored better than the last game, didn’t shoot that well (8-20).
The Jazz need to find rhythm and execute for the entire game not just the 2nd half. Big Al needs to rebound, box out, and hit shots down the stretch. They need to stop fouling excessively (Watson had 2 fouls early in the quarters in the back court).
We were outshot (42%-44%), outrebounded (-15), they doubled our steals (5-10), had too many turnovers (14), and outassisted (-1). There is no reason we should be outplayed in all of these categories. Jazz need to change things up and flip these stats around.

This is not the team I am used to, and that scares me. They just look like a beaten team. Like they just don’t care quite enough to compete with the teams that do. They are able to motivate themselves for apparently only the big away games. What the heck happened to home court?! I don’t trust this team like I had for quite awhile. Give it a little while and see if things come together, but if not, it will be a long season for fans and continue to hurt the fanbase and organization.
That sucks but’s it’s very true!!! Were those games we won just flukes?? I hope not!!! We’ll have to see tomorrow..This is another big game for us against Portland…It seems the jazz need to get beat in order step up and win the next game…
