‘Koufos: The Next Okur?'
‘Koufos: The Next Okur?’

More on the NBA draft. I’m just back from vacation and not impressed to find “The Second Coming of Mehmet Okur.” David James defends the pick pointing to Sloan comments about the offense not functioning without Okur on the floor. All I want from the 23rd pick is a skill. Here’s the debate – you decide.

The second coming of Okur……? Come on, give me a break! We need a second coming of Okur like we need more water on earth. What were the Jazz thinking with this pick? Did they not see how teams donimated us in the paint? Did they see that we committed more fouls than anybody in the league last year? Did they see our post season success, or our post season failure rather? The reason for all of these questions is because we don’t have anyone to man the paint and keep people out of it. Yeah we have AK47, but he’s somewhere on the wing unless his man is somewhere near the paint, which allows him to come over with a help block. The Jazz need one of two things, (really both but one could help us out alot) one is a big man who patrols the paint vigorously and makes people think twice about trying to finish in the paint, and the other is a shooting gaurd or maybe even a small forward that can actually gaurd someone with Kobe Bryant like skills. Lets be honest, fouling isn’t playing defense. The more we foul the more we take away from our offense for the simple fact that we have to sit our players thats in foul trouble. Chris Douglas Roberts was there at 23 and i think that not only would he have gave us that 2 or 3 that can gaurd but he possibly could have given us scoring also which could have led to the demise of some of our talent limited 2’s & 3’s. I hate the pick of 2k, special k, or whatever you want to call him. I know one thing that he’ll never be, and that is a great center at the NBA level.

man you’re not so well informed obviously.maybe you havent looked at his statistics during high school, ohio state and the european championship last year that kostas have participated.
check out the 63 blockshots in 35 games with ohio.
the 23.7 ppg last year in madrid where he was obviously the mvp.
everybody here in greece wonder why kostas has been so low drafted and be certain that during the season you will forget that you had “hated “your pick.you ll what i m talking about really soon.
    kostas we are with u!

Obviously high school and college doesn’t transform to the NBA! what Kostas did over in Greece was against a 18 and under team! should we be excited that he “BEASTED” some little boys. i mean they aren’t little but they’re not NBA tallent either. oh and for the record high school stats don’t even count either for the simple fact that there are so many players especially centers who put up big numbers in high school and go on to be busts in the league…….kwame brown, eddie curry, chris mihm, michael olowakandi, and darko milicic to name a few and thats just centers. however there are some players that don’t dominate while they younger but when they hit the league they become all stars such as ben wallace. it all depends on the skill level and maturity level and the players capabilities of maximizing his skill. but its obvious that kostas fans would support him. but the most important fact still remains……….the kid isn’t an in the paint center that can rebound and block shots which is where alot of the above named players failed! maybe i could be wrong, but then again maybe i can be right. more than likely……….im right
    MR. RIGHT!!!!!

    lol
well maybe you are right as kostas isnt the fully athletic guy with the dwight howards-like skills but for sure is a person that will make u proud especially when collins is your one and only center (LOL)…
to sum up,only time will tell.i am looking forward to see what kostas can do in the league
