360…Commentary

Posted by: Patrick Milligan on July 11th, 2012

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

I am sincerely sorry if I offended anyone.

FAN is short for fanatic and at times I get carried away.

I do just want to add that I honestly can’t see why ANYONE would be part of this 360 forum….

I see several people posting great things about the players THEY like (superstar or not) only to get called “stupid” or put down in some other way.

I wonder if it was in person, if the same disrespect would be given.  THAT doesn’t matter…..I think I can see the class, or lack thereof, by a few on this blog site…..those few are ruining it for others.

If a person like me sees a player as better than others may think, why would you not just say something like…”sorry dude, but it ain’t gonna happen for Ahearn”…instead of all the belittling remarks…

I’m a well built ex-football/basketball player, but this site ain’t a cage fight….intellectual mutual respect should abound here….sadly, it doesn’t!

Patrick, I gotta admit I was pretty rough on your last post, sorry. I’d like to see you continue posting, but maybe diversify your subjects a bit and get some more content in your posts? You’re right that we go overboard sometimes with the rude replies, and I hope you can accept my apologies. I’m not trying to scare anyone away from this community.

I know I can be a troll a lot of the time, and I’m sorry, but I have given compliments as well as criticisms (for instance Jake had some really good comments on another post and I gave him the credit he deserved for getting some good ideas out there).

Anyway, try and chill, people are going to be harsh when given free reign to do so on the internet. I look forward to seeing more from you, whether or not I disagree with what you’re saying, and I’ll seek to be more respectful in my discourse.

Sorry you got your feelers hurt.

Tell me Patrick Milligan, when you and your buds sit and talk sports do you worry that something you say will hurt your buds delicate little ego?

I once through out a trade idea for Andrew Bogut and I got absolutely berated… SO I LAUGHED AND GAVE IT RIGHT BACK. That what guys do when they talk sports… BUST EACH OTHERS BALLS.

Relax, have a good time, this is only basketball.

  3. I commend both of you as yesterday’s comments were disturbing to me. We’re all Jazz fans and differ in our opinions, obviously. A certain decorum of respect will make it more enjoyable for all of us. I learn a lot from all of you. Thank you.

Giving eachother a hard time in a fun way is just that FUN… People getting personal and attacking you will make this site worthless real quick. If people don’t like it then stop doing it… Remember we’re all here to have a fun time as jazznation, but it has to work for everyone. If some people think its ok to be very disrespectful, well that might work for 5% of those on here but for the vast majority it’s not ok.

Stop telling people to chill and just be more respectful, knowone is saying you can’t have an opinion or share your ideas, they just aren’t intersted in the attacks and personal crap.

I believe the title of your post was ‘What now, Andrew??’

Just a hint, but maybe instead you should have gone for a title like:

    ‘Why I think Ahearn’s a Keeper’

and then list your ideas and reasoning and opinion.

Others would of course still agree or disagree. (I personally think he could be bench filler as a specialist spot up shooter)

But to title your post like that, attacking one person over a good 6 minutes showing in a summer league game because he disagreed with your opinion is kind of asking for it in return no? And its a bit hypocritical to then post that people are ruining it for others and lack class. Was your post classy?

Anyway, I like being part of the forum, I like putting my thoughts out there and seeing what other people think of them, I even like seeing people battle back and forth like you guys, haha. I like hearing other’s ideas. I like giving Larry Negative a hard time and L.K. too, but I still like hearing what they say, even tho most of it I totally disagree with.

  6. Points well taken. I actually didn’t mean to be calling Andrew out. I thought I was just being playful, like the boys when we are on the couch watching the game…..I am sorry ANDREW.

Next thing I knew, I was being called stupid n such….

If I continue here in the future I suppose I should stop trying to be fun and just state my opinion respectfully…..fun playful banter is one thing, calling someone stupid can get your A@$ kicked in a bar….Why do some people feel the need to cross that line??

    I’m not whining….I’m just sayin’

And I AM sorry FOR calling Andrew out (or being perceived to)

    Andrew I’m sorry

  7. I think part of the problem is we’re all obsessed with Jazz basketball, but it’s the middle of the summer, so despite free agency and summer league, there really isn’t anything to talk about.

Most of what we say is just our opinion. Some opinions are better researched, thought out, and supported. Some opinions are totally ridiculous, left-field and posted on a whim.

And that’s okay. But if you come onto a basketball forum and start posting ridiculous things, you should probably assume you’ll get some strong feedback.

I give some people a lot crap for spelling and grammar because it’s a huge pet peeve of mine. Again, if there was actually anything to talk about, I’d be too busy having a conversation than nit picking people’s posts. I’ll try to knock it off.

Then again, if you get so butt hurt about your bad grammar and spelling, maybe that’s a sign that you should improve your grammar and spelling.

  8. Andrew says:

Haha Don’t worry about it Patrick. I wasn’t insulted at all.
Things happen, it’s not a huge deal. Opinions are opinions. Nobody’s opinions matter except KOCs, maybe we should be knocking on his door? heh

  9. Jay Ericksen says:

Then again why should we be perfect here , this isnt English or Grammar school is it ? And as the the good lord said he whom is without sin let him cast the first stone . Or in this case all of you that are perfect may cast the first stone at those of us that are just human .
Sorry Nick and others but telling someone that he cannot write on here because he doesnt do well in spelling or grammer is a pet peeve of mine .
Oh and while I am here please stop tellin people they are stupid because they have an opinion or veiw that you disagree with .
I for one dont have the time to put together any stats that might back up mine own opinions , so I stat what I see in games and what my opinions are .
Anyway lets keep things G-rated so that even our young as well as older viewers may enjoy what they read here .
    Go Jazz !!!!!

  10. L.K.Anderson says:

No matter what everyone deserves respect. Post and make opinions but leave the personal remarks out of the conversation. Everyone has a player that gets under their skin and a player that they adore..You could probably list each poster and identify each of the players.Mark Eaton was mentioned in another post and I can’t tell your all of the times people got on his case and wanted him traded..This site could use a moderator so some remarks would not be tolorated. But have fun being a Jazz fan..
