Meet
Jazz situation

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.I have heard rumors that the trail blazers are very much interested in wes matthews. David locke, though said that it was just a rumor and he thinks no one will sign matthews to an offer sheet. i was wondering if there was any real evidence of teams interest in matthews. i also want to know if using our trade exception to get gortat or varejao is a real possibility. both are defensive inside presence that we need. I also think the jazz are in a much better situation than people realize as long as they get a good defensive big. they have ak coming off the books next year and have ante tomic who is said to be the next pau gasol. if he turns out to be that good, the jazz would end up with a great group of big men with milsap, memo, gortat/varejao, tomic, and possibly koufos and/or fesenko along with a young good group of guards lead by none other than d-will

Aw man…..they better not lose Matthews, he’s already building a great name for himself. With all this activity, he are going to need all the help we can get from guys that already are familiar and fit in with everything here.
I dont think Gortat is all what people put him up too be. He’s a long body with no defencive ability. We dont need that. Harrington or Jeffeson I agree with.
T-Wolves have too many PFs. Perhaps we can trade for Kevin Love? Or, what would it take to get Luis Scola?
Jazz need a “fighting” 4. Millsap is good but he can be overwhelmed by 4s who are equally strong but taller. But Millsap is exemplary of the “fighting spirit” the Jazz needs. Perhaps, he can develop a bit more quickness that he can use effectively against taller 4s along the lines of Charles Barkley.
Aside from Okur’s recovery, bigger question is the readiness of Fesenko and Koufus in the 5. If either one can play great defense and clog up the middle, great defense can lead to easy offense. When under-talented, then a team needs great defense.
Excellent coaching and overall team play take advantage of the strengths available.
Blazers offered Matthews 34 Million over 5 years. 9 million in the first year! What would it take to bring Brewer back?
Less than that, but we should match Matthews.
