CHANGE STYLES; NOT COACHES
Posted by: RAY WALKER on March 23rd, 2013
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.I am ready to abandon my long running loyalty, support and devotion in the face of the inexplicable vision of the Jazz front office and coaching staffs. Anyone who has watched the Jazz games in entirety cannot be blind and not seen the defensive and Extremely high energy and production ABOVE the rim and not be aghast at the sight Derrick brings to the game. Look what happened tonight when he came entered the game Instead of starting, finishing and playing in the middle of the game up to 40 minutes per, notwithstanding fouls, the team is floundering and without the same DEFENSIVE focus. What happened against the spurs was not an exception the the way he dominates the rim defensively. Imagine the out come of that game with him down the stretch. You never saw Spurs so fearful or even able to score against him the way he filled the lane and helped constantly by effective blocking many shots and intimidating everywhere he went. And he does this all the time yet plays limited minutes for his young age. There at least 10 games lost this year for no other reason but the lack of his presence at the end of games and even his lack of starting and setting the tone for the whole team. What is going on and WHY?
And how long till the organization can’t see they can invent Jazz ball by going BIG, ATHLETIC AND DEFENSIVE> How can one not see the point guard in Haywood and dangerous weapons he has blocking shots, making great passes off the dribble and hitting 3’s. At 6′8″ thats what makes a formidable point. Throw in big fast fundamentally sound, tall, athletic and defensive minded types like Cantor, Burks, Marvin and shot blocking Jeremy Evans then marvel and behold the new prototype team of the future. Who says teams have to play a traditional 1-5 type team/game.
What have we to lose at this point but more importantly how was not this tried long ago this season.?
I CANT BE THE ONLY ONE SO ENJOYING THE SIGHT OF THE DEFENSIVE DOMINATION DERRICK BRINGS TO GAME AND FANS. WHAT ABOUT THAT MONSTER RUNNING DUNK THAT WAS THE GREATEST STATEMENT HIGHLIGHT ALL YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YET WE SUFFER NEEDLESSLY AS FANS AS THE RESULT OF PLAIN INCOMPETENCE.
I can’t take it anymore watching this yet I always will again hoping to get a glimpse of the greatness that should have been/
Really miss ya John, Jeff and Karl. Lobby for Hayward at the point and give him your help and wisdom.
To continue the same, tired who know what the plan is? so unnacceptable. Who is really in charge or following orders?
OH WELL KEEP THE FAITH.

Not sure who Haywood is but Hayward is not a point guard. He has a hard time controlling his dribble especially in traffic or late in games
As long as Corbin is playing Al 40+ minutes the style of play will never change: Jazz will give up lay-ups and dunks, and Al will take a ton of shots to score a little less points than that.
And and Mo to that…..
Style of play will change when Corbin changes himself (ha, its been 2+ years) or Jazz change-out Corbin.
Ray you me a pretty similar..GO FAVORS!!!
Corbin is one of the worst head coaches in the history of professional sports. He is too stupid to “change styles.” he would need to have a style to begin with. He does not.
I’ve been highly critical of Ty, but he did get much better play out of the vets against the Spurs. There was much better ball movement and less “sticking.”
Let’s see what happens tonight.

Corbin is useless junk.
