Don’t blame the team this heartbreak is on Ty

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.I have finally calmed down enough to say what anyone else who watched this GREAT and EPIC battle could not help but see. It would not be fair to call for his job but it would be reasonable to ask for an explanation. What was CJ doing out on the floor in that situation and how on earth did he stay there until he fouled out? Its legal to send in subs Ty. In fact its often times a good idea. This time being an excellent example. THe team need to rotate players by the start of the first overtime. They need a blow and asking them to play as many consecutive minutes as they did was not an acceptable call by an NBA level head coach. Of course my personal feeling (and I hope some other keen observing people can back me up on this ) is that OT would never have happened if you just open your eyes and see that Favors needs to close out the last 3-4 minutes of a game with Big AL and SAP and without CJ. HE HAS EARNED THE MINUTES. Look at the havoc he creates defensively and the way he goes after our missed shots. How can you not see the obvious? I read other posts suggesting a serious man crush on CJ and even my wife said as much during the game. Please explain to us, the ticket buyers who pay your salary what is your reasoning?
On the plus side my hat goes off to those guys who worked themselves to exhaustion (AL, Hayward, SAP ) only to be let down by your refusal to send in fresh legs. Anyway best of luck to the guys and thanks for the super effort. Get a win tomorrow and keep playing like you have been. Sooner or later TY has to face up to reality.

Agreed. The starters basically played an entire half of a game without a substitution. Atlanta had no choice, they do not have the quality of depth the Jazz have. Jazz, there is no excuse. And I still have not calm down. Before today, I honestly thought the Jazz could catch the Lakers for the 3rd spot. Damn.
Its about time someone started questioning the coaching rather than picking on the players that are thrown in there. If you’re CJ are you going to tell Corbin not to put him in, of course not, he is playing for a new contract.
When Sloan retired all we got was a poor imitation of the great man.
Agree completely! His in game management is far from stellar and has been his worst quality as a coach I believe.
I agree completely. By the time the 3 OT started I was thinking the whole freaking time. WHY IN THE HECK HAVEN’T WE SUBSTITUTED ANY PLAYERS YET? I was sure the players on the floor were beyond tired at that point. But he stuck with them when we had completely capable bench players waiting for their chance…
Also, Atlanta was on the the last leg of a back to back to back and if you would have put in a fresh bench against their “Should be” tremendously tired players you could have ended it in the first OT or probably the second…
Wow… I know it shouldn’t. But this game has kinda taken away my believing for this team and the playoffs… Not because of the players, but because of the Coaching… Sad Sad day…
dont you guys know? the bench is there just for their good looks
even after waking up after the match (europe here) i still feel like smashing something. it was so frustrating to watch the same lineup all over again, ty would play them no matter how many overtimes were there to play
i really liked what we did in 3rd, coming back from 15pts deficit,. i have to admit i thought that game is pretty much over after the half time – lets cut it to like 7 and them lose it back to double digits. so props for that
now correct me if im wrong, but i think the game should have never gotten into OT. we should have win it if the right lineup of best playing was in the game.
i dont know, dont even want to go on, you saw it too. i agree with OP, need to go and calm down. how long will this kind of rotation continue?
Coach Ty will want to look back on this one. Three times we (hehe, I am sure we all jumped out of our seats watching the game
) had the chance to put the game away, but the shots were all way outside. Why not drive and get fouled (okay, Millsap showed that the refs would call against the home team)?
The choices of plays and the missing substitutions are probably something the Coach would like to have back!
Couldn’t have said it better man I mean I know what assuming means ha ha but if Favors and Burks stay in and finish that game the jazz win in regulation! Couldn’t believe it took guys foulin out for them to get back in I mean these two are the backbone of our future they need to be finishing out these games when they’re outplaying the starters in limited minutes
I dont know what to think about the subs in overtime. I agree with Locke that a coach statistically doesnt think it will go past 2. Other than that Ty has done an amazing job to beat the teams we beat this last streak. He found each opponents weakness and tore the guts out. Kobe shut down, Durant shut down, Nuggets entire team of thugs self destruct, josh smith fouls out. Its not by accident. And we wouldnt beat these teams without the game plan, without the chemistry. I was just as furious about earl not being pulled from the Nets game when he appeared so absent and unprepared. But Ty has stuck with his formula of giving players a chance
