espn article about rondo

Alright jazznation, just reading some stuff on espn. Interesting article by Bradford Doolittle regarding the Celtics and whether they should trade Rondo. One of his suggested trades, and one he says he particularly likes:

“One I like is Rondo, Brandon Bass and Courtney Lee to Utah for Al Jefferson and Mo Williams, who both have expiring contracts. Perhaps the Jazz could figure out a way to work roster deadweight Raja Bell into the trade, as well.”

My opinion, I love rondo, Lee, and Bass. i feel like the young bigs would finally be able to get the minutes they deserve, Favors would start and get more minutes which is somehting we all want. I think Rondo would be fun to watch in a Jazz uni, and would be a great upgrade. But suddenly we are stacked at the SG spot with Lee, Foye, and Burks. Unless, of course, they continue to play Burks at the point. I think Bass would be Millsap’s replacement, and i think would be great coming off the bench, mostly because he would accept that role. I can see it happening, but seeing it in my head and actually seeing it work on the court are two different things.

Thoughts jazz fans…

    LOVE. THIS. TRADE!

If we are getting Lee, Id send them Foye. That way every Jazz guard is a a good to great defender.

Ya Rondo has a temper, but I like that instead of Zombies like Al

You don’t have Sap going anywhere so why replace him??

  3. Bryan says:

Pretty sure that bass is cheaper than it would be to resign millsap. If we did end up with that trade, might as well try and get something for millsap as well. If not the jazz have 4 players that play the same position.

  4. Bryan says:

    Favors, bass, millsap and evans

  5. Guido says:

Love that idea… Rondo is a leader… and Ill give to them Bell, Watson and a pick as a bonus.

  6. disco says:

If the Jazz did this I would be so happy. Any chance we could chuck Corbin in for Rivers

  7. Millslapped says:

Yeah too bad the Celtics will never take that. We would have to give up one of the C4 to get Rondo.

  8. LOL!

Still, enticing trade. Millsap owns Bass, though. Not even a comparison to be made. But let’s be honest.

Sorry dudes. Rajon Rondo > AL Jefferson and Mo Williams. Like, no basis for discussion. We need to trade half out team for Rondo. Why would Boston trade Rondo for Mo and Big Al? Rondo is the only thing happening for that team, their only real promising piece. I doubt Rondo will ever leave Boston.

@LK sorry should’ve been more specific… i like bass to replace millsap after he leaves in free agency.

@nick, the point of the article is it may be time to blow up the celtics. what better way to rebuild a team than by getting cap space, especially for a “bigger market” team like boston that can actually bring in high profile free agents, unlike us. so while you are correct that rondo is better than Al and Mo, the expiring deals up al and mo’s value, as well as i’m sure there would be draft picks involved as well.

  11. It would make sense if Boston is looking to pick up Dwill or CP3 on the FA market. But I agree with Nick, we would have to give up quite a bit besides just Al and Mo. I would be ok with giving them draft picks, but Im real high on our C4 right now. I think their talent is for real and their value is going to be high in a couple years.

  12. Steven says:

I would love to see Rondo here, and I would be curious to know what sort of touches our players would get without Al Jefferson around but the East is all about defence, Al could not be moved to the Celtics. They gave up on him once. They are not going to take him back now. Besides Rondo and KG is about the only good thing the Celtics have currently.

  13. Ben Williams says:

You do this trade. No need to go into why it’s more good than bad deal for Utah. I am more shocked Omar and I agree on something ;) Jk.

  14. Omar says:

Lol, Ben Will! I agree I’m just as shock!! Oh no! We agreed again!

  15. L.K.Anderson says:

Yes but when the Celts traded AL it was for KG. I think they would take him back..

  16. that would be an epic trade, sounds great. I would even throw in some draft picks, Randy Foye, Raja, whatever it takes
