Game 35: Nuggets 110, Jazz 91

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. The Jazz get rolled in the second half en route to a 19-point loss in Denver.
Danilo Gallinari led all scorers with 26, Andre Iguodala scored 18, Kenneth Faried finished with 18 & 10, and Kosta Koufos — Kosta freaking Koufos — grabbed 13 rebounds to go with eight points.
Millsap led the Jazz with 15 points, seven rebounds, four steals, three assists, and three blocked shots. Hayward scored 14, Marvin 13, and Jefferson 12 (on 13 shots).
We should all be happy about this outcome, though — because the vets got their minutes. And that’s the most important thing, according to Tyrone Kennedy Corbin. Favors was the only young player to play over 20 minutes, and that’s only due to Kanter still being injured.
The Jazz fall to 7-14 on the road, dipping back below .500 to 17-18 on the season.
Back home for the Mavs on Monday, before another three game road trip starting Wednesday.
Jazz player of the game: Paul Millsap

As this game just annoyed me, does anyone know hoe K.Murphy is performing in the d league?
Nice to see Marvin play better.
Sap is feeling better as of the last couple of games shows.
And for those of you who still keep pushing him out in a trade may I remind you (being player of the game) that he is the most consistant player of the game the last couple of seasons.
That said if a trade comes along that would better the team pull the trigger.
This was a very winnable game. Corbin kept in the same lineup with 1 or 2 substituions for the entire second half.
Favors had a poor second half. His offensive game is really quite poor. Still, that dunk on Javale was sick. But it is alarming that Javale freaking McGee has a better offensive game than Derrick Favors.
I really think the reason we lost this game was because Earl Watson played the point for the majority of the game. The guy is good at hitting driving players for assists (better even than Tinsley–but a much inferior ball handler) but he CANNOT run an offense. He’s too slow and plodding.
Alec Burks dissapointed in this game. You could tell he was holding himself back, trying to make things happen and make passes. That’s good that he’s trying, but we really needed him to attack the rim.
Denver is NOT a good defensive team. Never have been, never will. Yet they completely shut down the paint.
This game just reinforces for me how valuable Enes Kanter is to this team. Kanter brings us an additional 15 points and ~7 rebounds. Would have been a difference maker in this game.
Looks like Cousins has calmed down and putting it altogether. Kings say now they want to keep him. But can Cousins stay calm for another six weeks?? His next outburst is sure to injure someone..As long as he goes somewhere else Kings will need a center. I think if Favors (30min) and Kanter (25) min for a dozen or so games you would see a much finished project. Along with Hayward, Burks, Evans, Carroll playing without Tinsley or Watson seeing playing time is what the doctor would order..
The Jazz are what the Jazz are: a team of old and/or mediocre vets (at best above average at worst scrub) and young talent that is under developed. When old and/or mediocre vets dominate the minutes (even including last year), its hard to develop and find consisteny in our young players.
After Jazz beat up on Wolves and Suns, and earlier in the year teans like the Wiz, we get fooled into think Jazz (as the minutes are currently distributed) is a good team, when really we are right were we should be—mediocre around 500. This was a good reality check.
Try this thought experiment:
Remove the idea of this being the Jazz. If a team, team A had a starting lineup of Al, Millsap, Marvin, Foye, and Tinsley (with Watson as backup PG 22minutes), how many teams would they have an advantage against other starting lineups (and backup PG)? Thats what Jazz are, sub-par, mediocre, average. The West is deep, so average is not good enough to make the playoffs, much less win a playoff series against contenders. The Jazz bench (excluding Watson) is the only reason Jazz are not the NO, Wizards, Bobcats, Suns.
Until the minutes distribution changes, this will be the template for the season: beat up on the bottom feeding teams, lose to the playoff quality teams, and here and there, at home upset a strong team, most often tho, getting blown out by strong teams.
For the whole season, Jazz only have 4 wins against teams with winning records: Nets, Spurs, Rockets, Nuggets.
In last 12 games Jazz have beat: Nets, Magic, Wolves, Suns. Lost the rest.
@ Omar I dont think we are a .500 team as its constructed
@Omar and the Nets are HORRIBLE right now. They started out good but have been horrible since.
We’re a mediocre team. A team of players graded from B to C- were a middle of the pack type team, 7th or 8th at best. But with corbin coaching this team, you can also count on a few games we SHOULD win as losses
so i agree with @jazzeduponit, if we don’t make a trade to improve our PG position, we will wind up under .500
The way this team is put together and what ever system. . Supposed system is here we are straight garbage and trash.. again look how he treated gordon last night..
@omar keep telling it the way it is because this team make up is trash.. milsap dont need to go anywhere either because he has been a model o f consistency for years with heart and hustle.. FO fkd stuff up along time with these dumb moves and lack thereof..
This dude is ruining any chances of black coaches being hired along with smart and gentry… if it isn’t obvious by now he lost the future already along with the rest.. lottery team at best… mthfka.. yeah im pissed.. cant evn watch a whole damm game
@Jazzed uponit, your right, Im giving Jazz too much credit.
@Dallan, right! Should have lost to Wiz! Even with winning record, Nets fired AJ cuz the team was lost. With the Jazz, we beat a bad team and all of a sudden the roster is great and should not be messed with. The reality is Jazz bench keeps them from being bottom feeders. Lakers will make a trade for—Kyrie for MWP probably, whatever, they will make changes. Mavs as well. Kings are hot, Gordon is back maybe he gets traded. Basically, Lakers, Mavs, NO, Kings, are gonna make a jump. While Jazz probably do a trade ala Maynor and Brewer being dump?! Great idea.
Jazz might be bottom 3 team in West at this rate.
Right on Pintz11!! This era will be a blackeye on Jazz franchise history!!
@steve, if they think Tinsley and Watson is gonna cut it, they should all be mentally evaluated.
Watson… we got a problem!
