The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Gordon Hayward scores 27 to lead the Jazz in doing what they’ve done best this season — beat up on bad teams at ESA.
Hayward’s final stat line was 27/6/5 with two blocks, hitting 4 of 5 from 3-point range. Jefferson had 15 & 11, Millsap with 14 & 9. Burks contributed 13 points off the bench with four boards.
Dirk Nowitzki’s 20/5/5 led Dallas, who is just 5-15 on the road. Chris Kaman finished with 14 & 9, while O.J. Mayo added 13 & 5.
Nowitzki on Hayward: “He’s way more athletic than I ever was. I like him.”
Sounds like a certain German wants a pair of G-Hay pajamas.
Just 13 minutes for Favors, while Kanter made his return, playing 15 minutes. A combined 28 minutes for these two is completely unacceptable, if you ask me.
For the third straight game, Tinsley and Watson played below 48 combined minutes, recording 39 tonight, so at least that’s a step in the right direction.
The Jazz once again find themselves at .500 heading into a three game road trip, starting with the dreaded Bobcats on Wednesday.
After that road trip, the Jazz then will play 15 of their next 20 back at the Solution.

While its frustrating watching millsap and jefferson play so much… Anytime we can punk dirk, i’m a happy man! Burks continues to play well, seems he and hayward are finding a comfort level together!
IMO, the FO has been waiting to see the young guys step up and show they can carry this team before deciding to make a trade. I think hayward is getting close, favors right behind him, and burks has been coming on strong the last week or so. So hopefully they continue to improve and show they can carry this team, and they force the FOs hand into making a deal.
Agree with you Steve. Do you think they want a pg or sf though? Burks/Hayward as co-guards looks like a nice combo in the works. Marvin has not been great, or even good as of late. Who knows?
And he did it without the beard! Good game Hayward. Im a little concerned that Favors only took 2 shots.
In other news… Kevin Murphy is tearing it up in the D league!!

The young guys just give effort 100% of the time. If Watson gets anymore mins from now on Im gonna Freek out. Good to hear about Murphy I like his game. Side note, at the game tonight all the Millsap and Jefferson gear was 50% off. ??? fingers crossed. Jefferson needs to go!
Kanter just goes and goes and goes. Thanks for the info on Murphy. @Andy – I reckon they might see if they can get an upgrade on Mo before they decide. @Derek – That is very interesting about the gear.
Credit where credit is due to Corbin for playing the combo guards for the end of the game.
Many months ago I wanted to see Burks play the point. With Burks/Hayward as the backcourt I rest my case..
@Disco Kanter has leaped Favors and Hayward as my favorite player. It’s hard to see on t.v. but at the games you can tell he always gives 100%, even from the bench. I think we are gonna look back at this game and see that it was a turning point. Hayward proved he is the future, and we have already learned he plays much better without Al.
See what happens when guys can actually set picks (Favors, Kanter) for a guy that can shoot/drive/pass (Hawyard)? Good things happen, thats what.
Also, as for Watson. I seriously don’t know how a guy can get paid millions of dollars to be an NBA point guard and he picks up his dribble before he has someone to pass it to. That’s like begging to be double-teamed and pressed hard whenever he does that. Seriously, I learned not to do that in like my first year of pee-wee basketball league.
I know Burks isn’t polished, but he possesses athletecism and some important skills. He CAN pass well, but he’s got more of a scorer’s mentality, which is Fine. What I hated about CJ was that he didn’t drive to the hoop when he had the skills to do so. Burks drives to the hoop! He gets fouled! He gets foul shots! Yes, Watson can lob passes near the hoop well and can be feisty on defense. He does fight through picks probably the best out of our guards. But he picks up his dribble, can’t shoot the ball, can’t drive the ball….Burks needs to get minutes before Watson, plain and simple.
1)This is Hayward on a good day!! a beast… good 3s, blocks, athletism… love it!
2) Do u see last minutes line up??… No Mo, no Tinsley, No Watson( thank God)… Alec Burks in the pg position, switching with Hayward at it, love it too… real quickness, fast breaks, and mid court plays, also a hard d.
3) Kanter could be on starting lineup, he has the intensity that Big Al never have.
4)*FreeBurks
5) Player of the game: Hayward… special guest: Alec Burks.
@KCJones, Kanter’s pick setting alone makes him more valuable than Al on offense. It’s a thing of beauty seeing him stand a player up with his picks every time down the court.
Al: 14 shots for 15 points.
Hayward: 14 shots for 27 points
Burks: 7 shots for 13 points
Hhhmmmm… ya lets run more iso Al stuff.
Corbin tried his damness to force iso heavy Al, it didnt work, thats when Mavs built that lead. Luckly the one time Al got block Hayward tapped back to Burks for 3.
Al and Watson are the two players that hurt the team when they are on the court.
But still Corbin gets Al his 33 minutes and Watson his 20 minutes (to keep them happy). Beginning of year, Burks got the DNPs, now Carroll gets the DNPs?! Youd figure Corbin would realize its Watson who should be getting the DNPs; Al as a 3rd or 4th option; and Al no more than 20 minutes per?!
I pray Al gets tradef asap and Watson gets trade cut DNPs whatever just away from court.
I think Dallas is a lot better than their record would suggest. Their starting line up is really good, I don’t get it.
Anywho, sweet game! I was worried when Dirk hit that 3 and Dallas went up 8. Great comeback, I thought Jefferson played well, especially in crunch time.
Interesting about the Jefferson/Sap jerseys. Has anyone heard anything about that?
Too bad Nash chose the Lakers. There were rumors that he was interested in Utah. Just think how Nash would’ve been with this roster. Not like we would be title contenders or anything but we at least would’ve been a 4 seed. Now the Lakers are on the brink of missing the post season. poor guy.
Yea them poor Lakers might miss the play-offs this year what with all the injuries that they are having this season .
I really like how Kanters and Hayward are playin right now . Kanter really tries hard , he wants to play you can tell . He is screamin hustle in his body langauge .
This is a good win for all involved .
I think that Ma Williams is hurtin to much even tho he is tryin to work thru it . At least he trys .
