Meet
Game 5: Jazz 95, Lakers 86
Posted by: TACOREV on November 7th, 2012
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Randy Foye nails three consecutive 3’s in the fourth quarter to keep the Jazz ahead of the Hated Lakers, 95-86, and the Jazz improve to 2-3 while the Hated Lakers fall to 1-4.
Jefferson scored 18 with 10 boards, Mo put in 16 points with seven assists, and Foye’s 17 on 5-of-9 from the arc was huge for the Jazz.
Kobe Bryant was playing for his stats in the fourth quarter, finishing with 29 points — more than half of which came from the foul line. He was 0-4 from downtown and turned it over six times. Dwight Howard added 19 & 9, and Metta World Piece of Garbage tallied 15 & 7 for the HL.
Burks watch: He got some time in the first half once again, scoring his only two points on a sick jam that came off a sweet dish from Mo.
Good win for the Jazz, who are now 2-0 at home. They will look to get their first road win Friday night at Denver.

Another stellar game by Hayward…..
Everytime Jazz went on runs, damn consecutive fouls against. Lakers shot about 40 more free throws than Jazz in SLC?! You gotta be kidding me!! David Stern is straight trash. I love that the Jazz won despite the numerous missed calls and biased refs.
A win against Lakers is just what the Dr. ordered. And Kobe doesnt even play out the game…no class!! Its funny how all these analyst are conditioning the Jazz win?! Typical. The “Nash-less” Lakers lost: they have 3 guys that make 64M combined, and we are suppose to feel bad?! Give me a break. Even with Nash, Jazz could have won.
This can be a new beginning. Hopefully it is!!
@ Jazzman: Yeah Hayward needs to just shoot with confidence and not hesitate or think about it too much. When you watch Randy Foye take shots you can tell he is focused and not thinking about the defender closing in on him.
Well if you need further proof of how crooked the NBA is, you can rewatch this game. Ed Malloy (#14) is a bonafide criminal. He was one of the referees implicated in the Donaghy scandal. That he is still in the NBA proves how much of a racket it is.
**Lakers shoot 46 free throws**
KOBE BRYANT SHOOTS AS MANY FREETHROWS AS THE ENTIRE JAZZ TEAM (Jazz 18, Kobe 17).
**Lakers MAKE more free throws than field goals (almost 50% MORE FREE THROWS attempted than field goals made)**
**Lakers attempt almost AS MANY free throws as field goals MADE by the Jazz**
**Lakers only make 25 field goals** (Jazz make almost 40)
**Without their free throw attempts, the Lakers make 54 points**
…And Gordon Hayward fouls out of a game for the first time in his career.
Coaches and GMs can submit games to be reviewed by the league. This is the only way that crooked officials can ever be penalized. If enough of their games and calls are reviewed, IN THEORY,. they can be suspended or docked pay.
However, the NBA and the referee association keep this information secret, and hide it from the public.
Hopefully, Corbin, KOC, and Lindsay submit this game.
It was so obvious it was painful. This is unacceptable. This officiating was a disgrace to basketball.
I can’t even enjoy this victory, because it represents everything that is wrong with this sport. The Lakers straight SUCK. They play a !@#$%-poor game. They literally clobber the Jazz in the paint and do not get called. Hayward and Millsap are shoved, elbowed, bumped, grabbed and held on almost every single posession (offensive and defensive).
**DWIGHT HOWARD AND METTA WORLD PEACE ONLY COMMIT 3 FOULS COMBINED?????** These are two of the most prolific foulers in the history of the NBA.
Give me a !@#$% break.
This sh*t is whack. What should have been a straight beatdown by the Jazz was turned into a public disgrace by referees Ed Malloy (#14) and Mark Lindsay (#29).
And don’t mix up our new general manager of the same name with this crooked ass ref.
I dont want to take too much away from this win but the Lakers suck. We played great energy D, but how good are the Lakers Offensively , really. I question Howards back. Thats a serious injury, i dont see how anyone could be back to previous form. Brown will be gone by allstar break. Good thing Pau never really touched the ball.
Apparently #JerrySloan was trending on twitter worldwide at the end of the game lol.

I often wonder how the Lakers would be if they always had to play by the same rules as everyone else.
The only way things will be closest to fair is with a hard cap OR taking away the salary maximum.
3 block shots … not bad for a shooting guard. Hayward had a poor shooting night but his defense was stellar despite the foul on Kobe’s 3pt shot
Hayward may have struggled with his shooting but he gives the team something else besides scoring. That can not be said for a couple people in this team. So do not rag in Hayward for having a bad shooting game
Totally agree about the officials. I’ve always felt the NBA was rigged in some way. The big market teams make the league the most money so the league offices will do anything and everything they can to allow them to win. It’s pretty awesome the Jazz won this game DESPITE the blatant and ridiculous favoritism shown to the Lakers. I’ve read Tim Donaghy’s book and he says outright that he wasn’t the only official fixing games, he was just used as a scapegoat. I guarantee the majority of them do it, and I don’t think it’s for gambling purposes as it was in Tim’s case. I honestly believe David Stern puts officials up to the task of throwing games in favor of the largest markets (which is ironic because he does nothing but praise the success of small market teams like the Jazz, Spurs, and Thunder).
On a side note: The NBA tried to block the release of Tim Donaghy’s autobiography. What were they trying to hide?
The window is quickly closing on Sterns wet dream of Kobe vs. LBJ finals!! Hahaha. However, I wouldnt be surprised if by the end of the week there is a three team trade between Lakers, Rockets, and Cavs:
Cavs get Blake
Rockets get Eubanks
Lakers get Kyrie and Harden
Everyone wins, right Stern—you fn corrupt tool.
@A.G My biggest thing about the betting was that he said he could bet 85% of his games right just off of who was officiating the game! That is ridiculous and there is no way anything has changed since the same refs are there!!
Interesting fight between Jazz and Lakers fans… LOL
Weird game.
I see a couple of things I want to remark:
1) I say many times that Im not a Hayward´s fan, he cant make one complete good game, but he´s defense yestarday was awesome… look I think that Carroll trasmits that to him, in fact he disnt was neccesary on da floor.
2) With Hayward and Kanter, we finally have great defenders since AK era… TRADE BIG AL!!!!!!!!!!
3) Thank God Nash was injured
4) Foye is the “3 point” man that we need last year that´s good. If he want it. Yestarday for example, he did he´s job.
5) Jazz player of the game: Steve Blake… just kidding, PAUL MILLSAP.
GO JAZZ GO!!!! (Tomorrow I can see the game on open TV) in my country!
@ Dallan EXACTLY! He knew which officials would give certain teams and players all the calls. That doesn’t happen by accident. It’s how these officials are trained. What’s ridiculous is that David Stern and the big heads of the NBA think the fans are stupid. Do they really believe we don’t see what’s happening?
@ Guido
You may have already answered this, but where are you from? I’m just curious, I love having international fans of the Jazz on here.
@ A.G: As I said, im not from USA bro, who cares where da hell I am?? Let me be an international Jazz fan, and we arent a lot. Bless
GO JAZZ GO!!
we may be more than you think Guido
Although we won, we could have easily lost this game. Our guards were still giving up wide open three-pointers similarly to the last 3 away games. The only difference is that the Lakers didn’t miss most of them.
@disco: I dont know anymore here… I so hope there’s could be a million more than I think, so.
@Thanhvill: I agree with u, In fact that´s the point I said before, FOYE do his job… and we dont have him last year, thats is good to think for the year that comes.
@ Guido
Calm down man, just a simple question. I was just curious what country you’re from. Never mind now though, didn’t know you would take a simple question so personally.
I played basketball in high school and a little bit in college… Its been drilled into me to not complain about the refs. I hate doing that. I don’t like hearing about it. ITS JUST AN EXCUSE FOR POOR PLAY. If you want a call, create contact, burks is the best on the team at creating contact. There were a few calls that should have been made, i remember one for Hayward and one for Millsap, but for the most part the refs made good calls.
And dont put too much into the free throw disparity this game because they have KOBE BRYANT and DWIGHT HOWARD. Kobe gets calls on everybody. And Dwight gets fouled on purpose.
Plus the entire 3rd quarter and most of the 2nd half we became a jump shooting team, so i don’t want to hear about free throw disparity, at all. You want calls drive the damn ball. Jefferson needs to stop avoiding defenders and start creating contact, AND STOP COMPLAINING TO THE REFEREE’S EVERY DAMN PLAY THAT YOU GOT A LITTLE SLAP ON THE WRIST! SHUT UP PLAY AL!
@A.G: I dont have any problems bro take it easy!
GO JAZZ GO!
@ Guido
No worries man. Any Jazz fan is cool with me. Just seemed like you took offense to my question.
