14 guys on the roster. 2 guys in Burks and Evans that are extremely talented getting no Playing Time….gotta be trade in the works. If so, 2 for 1 involving Harris/Miles, Harris/Jefferson, or Harris/Miles/Bell?
I just don’t see why the Jazz would add Carroll, a non-shooter if we’re not getting somebody else.
agreed JC. Guartanteed contract for Tinsley and DeMarre Carroll in my opinion equals no more CJ and Devin. There might be the slightest chance we unload Josh Howard to a contender. I think that would be a nice move depending on what we could get for him.
Didn’t think of that one, JRN. Howard could help “beef” up the package a bit. Knowing KOC, if it does go down – it’ll be somebody I wouldn’t expect like always
I think they might trade Al Jefferson and Harris.
PG – ??? Earl Watson, Jamaal Tinsley
SG – Raja Bell, C.J. Watson, Alec Burks
SF – Gordon Hayward, Josh Howard, Jeremy Evans
PF – Paul Millsap, DeMarre Carroll
C – Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter
Or he might just be a 3rd PF.
Yes, a trade might be in the offing in our search for a better PG Starter and a shotmaker SF.
The signing tells all fo us that KOC and his Scouts are actively combing the Waiver Board for a Jazz-kind of a player. Mr. O’Connor, why not take a look of Hamady N’Diaye – a 7-Footer that was just also waived by the Wizards, a defensive specialist that could come in a cheap price (you can assign him to D-League to gain more playing time, experience, polish his skills to suit the Jazz requirements – just like how Mahinmi, now with Dallas, earned his keep).
Hamady Barro N’Diaye (born January 12, 1987 in Dakar, Senegal) is a Senegalese professional basketball player. Prior to the 2010 NBA Draft, N’Diaye was the starting center for the Rutgers University men’s basketball team, the Scarlet Knights. Hamady grew up in Senegal and came to the United States to attend high school at Stoneridge Preparatory School in Simi Valley, California. He did not play basketball until he was in high school, instead playing soccer when he was younger.
In the 2009–2010 season N’Diaye had 145 blocks and averaged 4.5 blocks per game (the third highest in the nation). On March 9, 2010 during a 69–68 loss to Cincinnati in the Big East Tournament, N’Diaye ended the season with the 358 blocked shots in his career and 145 for the season. Both broke school records held by former NBA player Roy Hinson. N’Diaye was awarded as the Big East defensive player of the year.
On June 24, 2010, N’Diaye was drafted to the Minnesota Timberwolves as the 56th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. His draft rights were then traded to the Washington Wizards. On January 6, 2011, N’Diaye was assigned to the Dakota Wizards of the NBA D-League.[1] He was recalled on February 4, 2011.[2] On January 1, 2012, N’Diaye was assigned to the Iowa Energy.[3]
Hamady N’Diaye is a member of Iota Phi Theta.[4]
It’s a pretty strange signing if there’s NOT a trade in the works…another big man? When we have FOUR quality bigs (five if you count Evans at PF) and our obvious need is a PG who can pass and a Wing (or two) who can shoot from the wing?
He is a SF guys. I would have expected Lil Sap. Who is this guy? Carrol is not a good 3 pnt shooter, so are we hard up for another slasher? Whats going on? I think your right, CJ may be on his way out…
According to David Locke the Jazz have been interested in this guy for awhile. He played PF in college but isn’t big enough in the NBA. He has been forced to transition to SF and apparently is still a work in progress. His adition doesn’t necessarily mean a trade is coming. Your allowed to have 15 guys under contract (the Jazz now have 14) and you can play 13. Here is a link to what David Locke has to say:

He is not a shooter agreed but he all talked about how we need help at the sf. Who knows this kid might click well with the team and, patrick sorry to say but I would carrol over lil sap any day of the week right now. At least he has nba expirence that counts for alot. A trade is deffinatly coming though for sure now. Im hoping miles and harris. If they get rid of al ill be crushed. I would prefer sap being traded then al right now but, that’s just me. Wonder who we are going to be trading for.
Agreed Trevor. I think Al is more crucial to this team than Paul. Millsap is a little inconsistent as a starter but Al is solid as a rock. Hopefully neither have to go.
Yeah, I hope neither go. The problem with the inconsistency with Paul and Al is that they consistently have to create their own shot. You watch guys like CP3, Andre Miller, Rubio, even Lin get their guys easy buckets. Harris is too out of control and isn’t in sync with our guys.
Maybe the Jazz are just bringing the kid in to give him a look see…but when Alec Burks, and Jeremy Evans already aren’t seeing much action, it’s kind of suspicious.
I was thinking the same thing Jason, but it’s not a 10 day contract but for the remainder of the season. I could be jumping the gun though…
Welcome to the team DeMarre…Jeremy, Alec, and Jamaal have a seat all ready warmed up for you at the end of the bench. Just practice hard, and be ready to go, because you never know when your number might be called.
Could be a trade in the works…could also be Jazz just trying to add a little more depth given that they’ve just entered a stretch of 34 games in 60 days and considering Howard is injury prone (given he’s already missed over 200 games in his 8-year career before this year). We’ll see. But JC Swan is right in that if something does go down, knowing KOC, we won’t suspect it until it’s already happened.
I read Locke’s take on it and I guess that has merit but I still find the move kind of strange. Not sure what to make of it……but hey at least he’s an ex Mizzou Tiger. One of the top college teams in the country this year. And we beat the *&%$#@! jayhawks. Sorry, had to throw that in there
Trevor, you may be right but I doubt it. Three things, too light to play PF, can’t shoot outside and is working on ball handling skills. His NBA exp is not enough to call an advantage even over a rookie player. Go compare his stats to ELIJAH’s and get back to me. They were both playing in the same league against the same talent.
This guy makes his living in the paint, but unfortunately the paint has been crowded lately. Unless a trade is in the works, this addition make no sense. CJ has more girth, ball handling, and NBA exp. We still have Evans, almost makes more sense to try him at the 3, don’t you think?
It’s been speculated we are taking a look at him, well Evans and Burks aren’t getting looks lately, how’s this guy supposed to get off the bench? He is like an underside Millsap who can’t shoot from outside and may have less ball handling skills. Guess we will see in time.
He can make a living in the paint and still help sap and al with the double teams. Making hard cuts and making al and sap pass the ball is going to make teams look for the cutter and take the double team away and, like I said before nothing helps with the offensive flow like hard screens and moving with out the ball
Trever, there is not enough room in the paint for 5 defenders, Al, and Sap let alone anyone else. We need to spread things out so people can cut to the basket. Keep your dog, he is just a cheaper miles. But until things spread out, there is less and less room to work.
It breaks the paint up patrick you don’t have a guy stationary down there. He is flashing thru, not setting up camp like al and paul. That just anther idea to get double teams to stop coming that works very well. The offensive system I run with my team is based off cutters and hard screens and hardly any out side shooting at all. I know I don’t coach an nba team but its the same principal if you have a cutter cutting thru. The opposing team has the respect his presant and step over and, push him back out if not its an easy pass and slam home. And if he does step over there ya go sap or al have one on one again
Trevor, it only works, when the paint isnt crowded. Why do you think that Harris is even struggling getting to the rim? Miles even slowed down. Its because the paint is too crowded, they have no where to slash to.. In the past few games, you see Devin out on the perimeter alone. He moves in, and backs out for a quick 3 pnt shot, all alone. Why, no one covers him out there, they are crowding the lanes and the paint, using double teams on the bigs. Thats actually part of the reason guys have stopped and are sitting, no where to go. They were not doing that earlier in the season, but as we have shown to be the worst in the league for 3 pt shots, no one guards us out there. No matter, you take CJ off the floor, and put another slasher out there. You pull Howard off the floor, you take out one of the few 3 pt threats that we have, even if he isnt as good as he once was.
It works anytime patrick study the game more you can win champoinships and not have three point shooting. There’s ways around it that was one way around it. Miles can’t get to the hole cause he is scared not cause its to crowded and, harris can’t get get there because he s thinking to much. He is so caught up in running the offence he lost his fire. Cj I have seen games this year when he puts his shoulder down and gets to the hole, so it is possible. You don’t realize im talking about moving with out the ball right not the dribble drive. You don’t like that idea then what about the mid range game that’s just as good as a three point shooter. It has the same effect on a deffence. The fact is we don’t have that right now the jazz aren’t about taking the 3 ball anyway, so you got to do other things to stop the double team. I have never seen a franchise that preaches 24 7 get the ball to the inside as much as the jazz so obviously koc and coach corbin is thinking what im thing with this carrol kid. He athletic taller he can help guard the 3 point shot on defence wich needs a lot of help as well and, he can also help out with the flow on the offensive end end as well. Koc isn’t thinking we need 3 point shooting if he did he would have gotten someone else plain and simple.
A trade has to be coming and I know how much everyone in Utah gets attached to one player but it has to be Millsap and Miles. Send them to Boston for Rondo so we have a point guard who can create some offense. You know the Celtics would love a younger power forward and help on the wing. Plus it opens up more time for Favors and Kanter. The last few games Favors has almost scored as many points as Paul in half the minutes. If were really committed to these young guys they need some quality playing time and a good point guard to get them the ball. DeMarre Carroll can be the fourth in the rotation between Al, Favors, and Kanter.
Why would we send Paul and Miles to Boston? Then we have 4 point guards and Boston has 1? That doesn’t make much sense.
Don’t want Rondos attitude around here anyways, He would probably jump ship the second his contract was up.
Need to find a J Lin type player. Talk about luck of the draw for NY.
1 point guard in Boston huh? Seems like avery bradley and etwan Moore did an alright job while Rondo was injured. Anyways throw Harris in the deal and bring and bring ray allen too! The point is they need a better point guard who can create offense better and I Rondo is great at it and is one of the top guards in assists. Rondo passing to Jefferson Favors, and Kanter would be great
We wouldn’t just trade those two if we did that deal. We would find a place to put harris as well. I would like that rondo plays with fire he is great on d and passes the ball. I would that him in a heartbeat. I don’t think boston would do that though. I think they have had better offers the an undersize pf and an inconsistent and sf, for one of the best pgs in the league. If the jazz could find a way to get rondo here they would be crazy not to do it.
I hate to say it but with the signing of this guy one of the bigs is on the way out .. MillSap Who is wanted by alot of team for his work ethic and jefferson who is the number 2 center in the league.. the jazz have the players to make a good deal for a point guard and the salary cap space to sign one also..
Demarre has never been given a chance to play if you look at the teams he has played for he would get 4 or 5 minutes a game hes only been in the league for 2 years another young guy after he was released from denver went to the d league and played
http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/demarre_carroll/
i know its the d league and not the NBA but he got minutes and he started producing
I like carrol im surprised fans are so quick to throw this guy under the bus like they are. I mean he isn’t what we expected by any means I understand that but who know what could happen and, how he is going to play. Im scared alot of people threw him under the bus it wont matter what he does fans are still not going to like him. I mean what standard is fans going to hold this guy to since they already don’t apporove of him? I believe it means cj is out before sap though eric, I agree sap will be moved I don’t think it will be until the off season or next years trade deadline for two reasons. One favors and kanter need just a bit more time to develope not much but a little longer and reason two jazz want to move harris already and they signed a sf so they need to move an sf as well. So sap will be moved latter harris and cj this year in my opinion
i think all the guys will be here for the rest of the season and come this summer there are going to be some major changes to a couple positions on the team. i hope they keep the roster the same till the end of the season i like the team they have the only spot i hope they fix is PG
i know alot of people arnt to high on CJ because of his inconsistency but he is starting to slash more and that is what they need.. there are just no holes because the jazz cant seem to shoot the 3 and its killing our big men down low not letting them work the way they should be able to
I agree with Trevor, give the guy a chance. How many guys have gone on to prove people wrong. Mathews anyone? How about a Jeremy Lin in NY? just had 38 point game against the Lakers. Bell was undrafted and is now in his 12th year.
Some Players just need time to shine, but that could be said about players like Burks to. Just needs time and a place, maybe even a certain system.
I think once he gets a chance he will show he can play i know its not much but once he went to the D league and played and started getting minutes he was averaging 18.9 points a game he will be a player that works for the jazz
