Game vs Grizzlies

Posted by: ThanhVII on November 5th, 2012

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

I just want to share a few  things even though the game is only halfway through the second quarter:

Finally, thank you Corbin for going with Foye/Burk as a substitution as oppose to Tinsley/Foye. Foye stop forcing up the shots with a guy up on your face.

Things I would like to see more or wish to see:  Burks as a hybrid point/shooting guard to guard the opposing points and to bring the ball up with Hayward in the pick and roll or dump into the big man with the big lineup since Paul can hit the threes more often now.

Burks sucked in this game. I am so annoyed at the team right now. Burks blows his minutes and screws the team with stupid shots and retarded passes. Jefferson is playing like a piece of trash with his worthless passing and lack of focus. I know it’s only 4 games in, but I hate what i’m seeing from them since Game 1. Trashy, unfocused, lazy basketball.

  2. Austin says:

wow! this team needs a change Jefferson can’t pass and needs to go! send him for a young PG and we will be golden. We have the players and talent to be something special. Until they seem to care like Mo does it looks like a Lottery type year for this team.

  3. Guido says:

    OMG this defense sucks…

  4. disco says:

As above. Al is terrible, Millsap seems to be going through the motions. There is little to no passing and the defence is ridiculous.

  5. ThanhVII says:

@Kevin I feel your pain. The team is frustrating to watch at the moment. We look like lost souls out there both offensively and defensively. As regards to Burks, I have watched his game and he just needs more minutes to feel his game. Corbin has been taking chances with Foye and he hasn’t shown he could guard opposite guards. I would better bet that those minutes will be better invested in Burks. He has enough speed, talents, and athleticism to stay with other points in the league.

  6. ThanhVII says:

@6 minutes in the fourth quarter when Gasol came in and we were only down by 5, I was hoping Corbin brought the big lineup in, but he failed. He waited till we were down to 9 to make adjustments. Hopefully, he will make better decisions.

  7. Omar says:

Kevin, I pretty much agree with you, but these are Burks first real minutes of the season (I mean in game when both teams are competing), so its gonna take time to adjust to the speed. Which is why we all said he should have got more minutes, so by the fourth game, hed be playing at top speed. I am not worried at all by Burks, by the end of the year he will be the 3rd best scorer on the team (assuming Corbin wakes up), like ThanhVII has stated. We aren’t getting to the line…….HELLO, earth to Corbin……PLAY BURKS MORE!!

    BREAKING NEW!!! BREAKING NEWS!!!
AL’s D is horrible!!!! We should have moved him sooner. I hear a lot about chemistry, and I believe in it for the most part, but if a group of me and my best friends (who are like family), we would lose to the Bobcats by like 100+ points, so ya chemistry matters, but talent is SUPER important. I don’t care how good a guy Al is, I don’t care how him and Kanter are best friends, Al can NOT play D. If he gets more minutes that Al gets the lower our chances are of winning. WE CANNOT RUN if we are not playing good D. That why our offense is really looking bad, cuz we are not playing D.

We trade Al, Kanter and Favors get more minutes, plus Marvin gets more minutes at PF (stretch four), so that frees up minutes at the wing for Burks.
The money line up I want to see is Favors, Marvin, Hayward, Burks, and Mo.

  8. Corbin is a horrible coach and the team defense is very bad. Not sure what it is with the road but there is no excitement to the team when they play on the road. My only guess as to why Corbin did not play Tinsley and Carroll (which I am glad he did not) is he thought they needed some rest since they have played so much already. But his decision to put Burks and Evans in at the same time was a joke and then he did not even give them time to get into some sort of rhythm.

My opinion is the Jazz have a lot of talent but they do not have anyone that will spark them and get them motivated to play. Heck I would rather see J. Vaughn as the Jazz coach. Again just my opinion and it looks like the Jazz have not improved on the road. I am sure the Jazz will show up against the Lakers and everyone will again start saying we know have it right but until they figure out something on the road this team is not going to go far.

But I am a true Jazz fan and will stick with them through thick and thin…. Come on Jazz

  9. Millslapped says:

Very frustrating. A lot of one pass and shoot. I don’t know….. I just don’t know.

  10. Omar says:

I love my JAZZ, that’s why I get so damn angry!!! Corbin has really set up at bad culture: all the positions are set (even last year) Al will always be the starting C, Millsap the PF, etc. Nobody’s spot is in jeopardy, why play all-out if your spot is secure?! No head coach with any sense would have kept playing the sorry players we had last year, and this year Al and Tinsley, and I still think Foye is getting to many minutes.

I am gonna look at the positives….if Lindsey is the true shot caller, I feel a trade right around the corner. Al, Bell, Watson/Tinsley, Millsap, I think are on the block.

Can Harpering be a coach for a night?? I says a lot of the things Id want in my head coach. “Jazz need to get to the line 20 is not enough,” “you need playing time to develop,” “In a zone you have to rebound (talking about Al)” etc.

  11. Millslapped says:

Maybe they just need more practice together. I can see the potential. This team can be a 6th seed. I liked that lineup at the end though.

  12. Our minutes are spread too thin for guys to get in rythym. Its not fair to them, Al and Sap are too slow for this up tempo offense.

  13. FO needs to work a trade alot earlier now.

  14. KCJones says:

Al let guys blow by for layups so many times. And I haven’t seen the offensive output that is supposedly makes his terrible D palatable. Mo Williams, for how much I love his tenacity and ability to score and improved D over Harris, cannot pass well off the pick and roll and has trouble making anything else happen besides getting his own shot off.

Very frustrating team to watch. What the hell happened to Jazz basketball? Movement, teamwork, great passing, getting good shots in the paint…where are these things?

  15. Kevin says:

It pisses me off that they can dominate in the first quarter, and then they suddenly forget how to keep it up. Why do they mentally allow themselves to get away from what they were doing successfully!? I’ve played competitive bball and when you start to screw up, you ADJUST! These guys are freaking professionals yet they play lazy and act like they are confused! Do what you were doing in the first quarter and it will be a decent win!

I have absolutely had it with Al. He can be great offensively, but only if he doesn’t happen to throw the ball away first. Seemed like every time he touched the ball last night, he was bobbling it or throwing it away. His defense blows, but we all already knew that. I figured his offensive talent could offset his defensive liability but his offense is suddenly struggling. I wouldn’t even be upset if we simply waived him and got nothing in return. He is a piece of trash when it comes to focus and adjusting.

I know i’m over reacting a bit with a lot of this, but it just seems like Mo is killing himself out there while everyone else is wandering the court like a special needs mutual.

Burks needs more minutes to find his groove. But I am beyond tired of waiting for our players to do so. I don’t care if you get 2 minutes or 48. I want to see PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL LOTTERY PICKS play better than he is. He hasn’t played much this year, but it also isn’t his first time on an NBA court. Why can the Grizzlies players who never play come into the game and quickly drop 15 on us, but Burks who was a lottery pick can’t even set his feet before a shot? Or make a decent pass?
