Disappointed? You shouldn’t be

Seriously, are you disappointed with the Jazz?

With Devin Harris’ lack of production? Lack of Favors/Miles/Hayward consistency? Are you disappointed with management not making a trade? With Corbin not sitting Hayward or keeping Harris in the game? I say to you Shut. Up.

Seriously we are 16 games into the season. Favors/Miles/Hayward/Burks/Kanter are all under 25 years old and some of you dog on them for not being what you expected. Many of these guys haven’t even spent an entire season in a Jazz uniform nor have they had an entire off season to work with the Jazz due to the lockout.

In the beginning of the season many would have laughed when you said to them the Jazz would be in the middle of the pack in the West sitting at the 5 or 6 seed. They would have laughed had you said Coach Corbin would be in the running for coach of the year. They would have laughed had you said Millsap would be playing like an allstar and meshing very very well with the offensive black hole known as Al Jefferson. They would have laughed had you said Josh Howard would actually be contributing.

Give the young team time, that is what we need more than any trade you can think of… (Unless we can get Lebron, Dwight Howard, Durant, Rose, or someone in exchange for Bell or CJ… lol)

Saps Always been a beast, so I wouldn’t have laughed. Black holes in the NBA can learn to share the ball so the Jefferson thing I wouldn’t have laughed about either. Josh Howard had a pretty good chance of contributing, so I wouldn’t have laughed at that one either.

I think you have something, when you talk about youngsters and when you talk about not enough time together in a Jazz uniform.

I do Laugh at posts telling others to shut up, and or to trade, or that someone should do this or that. Your a fan. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Hopefully the people who are in charge will make the right decisions. Go Jazz.

I’m not disappointed in our record, but I think it is concealing many of our fatal flaws right now. Every fan has different expectations, so everyone is at a different level right now. I haven’t heard many people dissing on Burks or Kanter since we’ve seen what they can be. Favors might be a little disappointing right now simply because everyone, particularly those who cover and are a part of the Jazz (Locke, Harpring, Boler, etc) have hyped him up so much that everyone’s expectations are huge now and it will be difficult for him to live up to them. The fact that we traded Deron for him only adds to that. As far as Josh Howard, many were cautiously optimistic about what he could do for us when we signed him. There are other players (Hayward, the Raja of a couple weeks ago, Miles, Harris) who have deserved much of the criticism they’ve been getting. Lack of effort and confidence have shown at times and naturally cause some doubt and concern among fans. While 16 games is too early to think we know the identity of this team, it’s also to early to say we were wrong to have our doubts. Many Jazz fans follow the team religiously and want to voice their opinions, frustrations, and ideas with others, and there is nothing wrong with that. All we, as Jazz fans, can rightfully ask for is that each player give their best every night and work hard to improve their game make their team and teammates better.

Brandon, thanks for the post. I agree that Jazz fans should be very happy with what this team has done so far and I think most people are. I definitely appreciate your perspective and positivity.

In terms of people being upset, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Sports fans get upset, it’s part of their passion. I used to live in New York City and those people were insane about their teams. I was at a Yankees game in April ‘04 and Derek Jeter got booed because he was slumping to start the season. Fans booing a guy who’d brought them 4 championships (up to that point) and been one of the best players in franchise history. But it wasn’t an expression of hatred–I saw it more as an expression of “We want our team to play well and you better get it together, Jeter!” I tend not to yell at my team, but I actually don’t think it’s that big of an issue when other people do. Compared to folks in other cities, Jazz fans are generally very positive and supportive of their team.

I would agree with Patrick. Also the biggest thing the fans lack is PATIENCE … Calling people stupid, telling them to shut up, and other things are classless..
@James: When I grew up I was both a Dodger and Yankee fan. I know that is kind of like oil and water mixed. Maris, Mantle, Berra, Ford, Koufax, Drysdale, Podres,Wills were my favorites. But as time and greed came more into the picture I have all but lost interest. I did meet Maury Wills when he came to work with the old Ogden Dodgers. Those old vets gave us priceless moments. My favorite Yankee was Mantle. Berra had a lot of sayings we still use today. But yes fans were the same way back then too. And sometimes they were not too nice in their heros decling years.

  5. I believe that fans are way too critical and unforgiving with something that they couldn’t do themselves. The booing thing, to me, always shows a lack of class. It coarsens our society in a senseless way. It’s great to be enthusiastic and loyal, but a little decorum would be a nice thing. As far as trades, I’m sure KOC has a plan with many options, well thought out. Our jazz future seems to be very bright, but we NEED to have a little PATIENCE.

  6. I was disappointed in how the team played in the loss to the Raptors, after building a big lead early in the game. Beyond that, I’m a happy camper.

I’d really like to see more of Miles, Howard (I know he’s been hurt recently), and Burks, and less of Hayward and Bell though.

Being disappointed with the Jazz as a whole or being disappointed with individual players are 2 different things. I’m extremely happy with where this team is at in the standings. Their record is much better than I think a lot of us anticipated.

However, there is plenty of evidence to support the fact that some fans (including myself) are disappointed with some players individually. Body language and lack of effort are pretty apparent, especially to a fan base like the Jazz have. Favors and Hayward have both shown glimpses of excellence in the past but haven’t been contributing much this season. Sure, they’re still young and have plenty of time to turn things around. But SO FAR they have been disappointing.

I dissapointed in last 3 missed free throws of Harris, that was a GAME. Is the professional in the house? … I donĀ“t think so.

  9. Yea many of you bring up good points. I too am disappointing with specific players, namely CJ and Hayward. But like I said the team as a whole is giving it 110% out there and even tho those 2 guys are playing bad, at least Hayward continues to give 110%. I say seeing him do that will bring nothing but resluts as he becomes more consistent. Tonight for example he had 6 assists and 8 points. Pretty solid. I’d like to see more points but still, that’s the kind of stat I’d like to see supporting role players give us every night.
Harris continues to give us some good play as of late.
