Kendall Marshall, Forgotten?

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz are covet Damian Lillard and so do I. The kid can shoot and do everything we need right now. His passing and court vision leave something to be desired but he can create for his teammates through his scoring abliity. But Portalnd is predicted to take him due to the huge void they have at the Point. If they don’t trade their pick (which is rumored to be happening) they will pick him. So our only shot at him is if we trade with them, or before them. Sacremento is said to have interest in him too, but only if the player they want is off the board when their pick comes up, and I think it’s Kidd-Girlcrest.

Pretty much I don’t see us getting Lillard without giving up some good assets for a top 10 pick.

NOW: Kendall Marshall has been forgotten in this draft. Once predicted to be a lotto pick he has fallen since the injury to his hand in the NCAA tourney. I think the Jazz could realistically make a move for this guy and get him in the 15-20 pick range. We could trade with some mid level playoff teams looking for that “last piece” to make the finals.  This includes Philly, Orlando, Dallas, and the Bucks. I think we will miss out on Damian Lillard (people are asking too much for their top ten picks). But I don’t think those four teams are asking a terrible amount for their picks. Espically Orlando, Dallas, and the Bucks. I also don’t think any will draft a PG because they all have one, and Dallas is trying to lure in D-Will drafting the rookie of the future could push D-Will away.

Many will say we need a scorer but scoring doesn’t translate well to the NBA. See Morris Almond, Jimmer Ferdette, and Adam Morrison. All 3 led the NCAA in scoring and 2 are out of the league and it wouldn’t surprise me if Jimmer didn’t work out.

Kendall Marshall is a pure PG who can score when necessary.  He averaged 10 assists a game this year and is a great court leader. His basketball IQ is that of Jason Kidd right now. He is the most mature and knowledgeable player in the entire draft. The kid knows basketball, but his athleticism and shooting touch hinder his abilities. He will probably be as good as Andre Miller, and Andre Miller is a stud who I’d love to see in a Jazz uniform. This guy can help everyone on the court become better.  I just can’t say enough good things about this guy. I feel like he is the only player we can realistically acquire who will help us in the immediate future.

  1. Marshell has legit NBA talent. His assist stats dont do a justice for how much he moves and changes defensive schemes. I remember some scouts knocked Dwill for having a slow step and too bulky for a point gaurd
