  1. Lots of analysts have us picking him up. I’d like that.

  2. OH. And I’d love to have Okur and Kanter on the floor at the same time. Two guys from turkey playing together sounds cool.

  3. Zach says:

Having Derrick Favors, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, and Enes Kanter all at the same time and true position would not be a good thing. Or at least too much of a good thing which would in turn become a bad thing.

  4. Dave801 says:

Kanter’s natural position is center and he is quite undersized, 6′10″ with a 7′1″ wingspan… He’s like Al Jefferson in that he wants to play the center when his size is perfectly suited to be a very dominant power forward.

Kanter probably is the 3rd best player available, but I think we would be smarter to address our painfully clear needs. A wing presence, a point guard for the future, and a true center.

We really should be bringing in a floor general now to build chemistry with this young up and coming team.

  5. Patrick says:

Dave, what? Kanter Measured out at 6′11″ with a span of 7′1 1/2″ wing span. He interviewed wanting to play PF, though he has the size of a Center. In this draft, you wont find a better Center than Kanter. If you want what you call a true center, you better find a way to get Gasol. DeAndre Jordan is available too.

We have a floor General. The best one, maybe not, but if you dont address our weak wing status with one of the picks, you just take a good player off the floor for another one. Thats not getting better, just deeper..

  6. French Dude says:

Do you think Dwight Howard is a Center ???? He is, and some says he is a dominating Center….. Is Demarcus Cousins a Center ??? He is, and some says he is going to dominate in the next years
    Howard 6′11 260
    Cousins 6′11 270
    Kanter 6′11 260
are you objectively sure the Kanter’s size and weight suited to not being a Center ?????

  7. I am open to the idea of Kanter joining us, as part of a plan. If we draft him, something has got to shake–perhaps trading one of the big guys to help address our needs–shooting, a small forward, defensive center.

  8. Dave801 says:

Apparently I’m the last person who thinks a true center is a genuine 7 footer.

So a 6′11 center with a 7′1″ wingspan is not undersized in the NBA? I guess I’ll just have to keep my mouth shut and listen to you guys. He’ll have no problem at all at center… better draft him. blah blah blah blah…

  9. French Dude says:

@dave801, size only matter if you play with the ball on your head……… standing reach + jump and you have the real size for a basketball player

  10. French Dude says:

and for the weight, 259 with 5,9 of body fat, i think he is strong enough to fight in the paint……

  11. Kevin says:

I swear i’m taking crazy pills here. The Jazz have always struggled with Centers who were just a little smaller than average, and yet everyone here is still wanting us to draft Kanter? The difference between Dwight Howard and Enes Kanter, is athleticism. Sure their physical stats are similar, but their muscle elasticity is not. It’s like comparing a 4 foot pogo stick to a 4 foot 2X4. “Well they’re the same size, so obviously they are comparable.”

  12. French Dude says:

@kevin, “little smaller than average…..” exactly 0,75 inch under 7 feet, what a big deal, give him the cole aldrich shoes and he will be almost an 8 footer……

  13. French Dude says:

and by the way, i stricly don’t know what is a “4 foot pogo stick” or a “4 foot 2×4″….

  14. Dave801 says:

    @Kevin, Exactly!!! Thank you.

and a 7′1″ wingspan is not all that impressive, Carmelo’s is 7″, David West’s is 7′4″, I think Tayshaun Price’s is 7′3″. They are all shorter than Kanter.

  15. Kevin says:

@French Dude…..A Pogo Stick is a toy that makes kids jump higher when they bounce on it, and a 2X4 is a piece of lumber used for building things.

  16. Kevin says:

Here’s my opinion….in today’s NBA, you give up .75″ on some of the guys out here, you dang well better make up for it and then some in other areas. If you are .01″ shorter than Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Robin Lopez, or any other Big man that gives us trouble, you need to have some lethal ability. Height is everything in the NBA when you have guys like Dwight Howard who can easily dunk a 12 foot hoop. I don’t feel that Kanter has the athleticism to make up for his .75″ deficit.

Maybe me and Dave801 remember too well players we’ve had from the past who were simply liabilities against powerful big men of the NBA. I guess we should continue to draft the same old style of player and hope for a different result. Why change things up when we can just continue to copy and paste our complaints of the last ten years? It’s easier that way in online blogs.

  17. Adam says:

I personally think Kanter would be a good pick for us. He shouldn’t start though, we got Al at the PF and he would only do o.k. at the C. So, we trade Millsap for a sweet SG/SF (Kevin Martin) and get a guy like DeAndre Jordan via free agency (is Javale McGee a free agent this year?). That way there would be a front court of Jefferson and Jordan, and a backup of Favors and Kanter! Drafting Jimmer Fredette, Alec Burks, Jordan Hamilton, or Chris Singleton for a backupt SG and possibly keep A.K. for a bench reserve of SF. With Devin Harris at the point and Earl Watson for his backup, I’m thinking that sounds like a pretty good starting leap for the NBA Playoffs next year!

  18. L.K.Anderson says:

Article on Hoopsworld today on Kanter. Seems as if he has a bad back too. Sounds like AK and Okur little brother.Too many red flags with this guy.

  19. Mac_Diego says:

whatever his height is, Favors and Kanter are a better defensive front court than Favors and Al. Al Jefferson’s defense is the reason we will never go deep in the playoffs with him (unless, of course, he fixes it).

  20. French Dude says:

@LK how could you say it’s a problem, or may be recurring…. ??! at the time of 1 game, he had an injury, like every players in their career, and then what ?? did he stay on the bench like a Boozer ?? No, he played with the injury, and the result…….. 34 pts 13 rebounds in 21 minutes…….

  21. Chase says:

So this article it seems like he’d be happy in Utah. Yet at the combine he snubs interviews with Jazz personel and tells media he wants to play power forward and not center. Do we need him that bad? I said trade down. Trade Kanter to the Wizards which is where he wants to be. Trade the #3 pick with Toronto, Wizards, or Sacremento for their pick and Bargnani, JaVale McGee, or Dalembert or something. Then pick up the best available or Fredette with their pick. I’m sure some other pieces will be mixed in with salaries. But I’m not a fan of Kanter. I would be if he really wanted to play for Utah and play Center.

  22. Tony M. says:

    @Chase
He didn’t snub us. He has an interview and a workout with us on the 2nd.

  23. bill says:

When are we going to get a competent medical report on Enes Kanter? What’s the delay? Does he have knee problems that could derail his career similar to Greg Oden/Brandon Roy? Why would the Jazz/any other team draft this 18 year old at 1-3 in this draft without such a report? Just my take.
