So… Who do you want now?

No doubt, Kyrie Irving and Derrick Williams will be gone before our 3rd round pick. But there’s still a couple really good players we can get. On the top of my three pick list is Brandon Knight. I wanted him from nearly the beginning. He’s a great shooter and he can defend! Next up, IF he’s not gone by the 12th pick I want Kawhi Leonard. But, since that’s pretty unlikely, the third man on my list is Chris Singleton.

So, I ask you, who do you want now?

Oops, I see there’s already been a thread posted about this. :\

Honestly, you’ve got to bring these guys in for workouts and interviews. I know that’s always the case, but this year more than ever before. Even the best scouts still know relatively little about guys like Kanter and Knight because they’re so young and just haven’t played a lot of ball. I think we’re gonna see dudes moving up and down the board like crazy as each team goes through its vetting process with potential draftees. It’s gonna be a WILD month.

Can somebody who is an ESPN insider please post Fords new mock draft?

To answer your question: knight and Hamilton

  4. James Seaman says:

@JRN5150: Here’s Ford’s mock draft from insider. It’s kind of like I’m helping you steal cable, huh? You owe me a beer. :)

    Utah: Brandon Knight
    Cleveland: Enes Kanter
    Toronto: Jonas Valanciunas
    Washington: Kawhi Leonard

    Philadelphia: Markieff Morris
    New York: Josh Selby
    Washington: Klay Thompson
    Charlotte: Jordan Hamilton
    Minnesota : Marshon Brooks
    Portland: Donatas Montiejunas
    Denver: Tobias Harris
    Houston: Reggie Jackson
    Oklahoma City: Nikola Mirotic

  5. thanks for that james.

  6. If Irving and Williams are off the board, my top choice for the Jazz is Brandon Knight. I think he’s a safe pick, and the right choice. I’m not sure if he’ll be an all-star caliber player, but I think he will have a very long, rock solid career. I think Kanter might be more appealing to the Jazz if they didn’t already have Tomic waiting in the wings.

Singleton is an interesting choice at the 12th spot. He is regarded as the best perimeter defender in the draft, and as all Jazz fans surely know, that is a big area of weakness on our roster. Perhaps, he could be a Bruce Bowen type all league defender. He might be the most intelligent pick we could make at that point in the draft. He’s not the most exciting choice, and many Jazz fans who want Jimmer will be up in arms, but I could see the sense in drafting a guy who could play a specific roll, much like a player like Tony Allen in Memphis. I think guys like Leonard, Burks, and Biyombo will probably already be off the board. I would also be satisfied with Jordan Hamilton, or Donatas Montiejunas whose strengths are more prominent on the offensive end of the floor.

Knight and Singleton….sounds good to me

  8. Shockwave says:

At this point I want Utah to trade up for Irving. I didn’t think we could do that until last night.

  9. Patrick says:

Shockwave, You want them to trade up for Irving? How do you suppose we do that? Drug Cavs GM, and offer him What? Even drugged what do we have to trade to the Cavs that would make them pass on a player they really need?

The Cavs taking number 1 pick with the 8th, was a worst case scenerio I missed seeing, and it sucks to be us. We are currently the dog waiting in the shadows for scraps from the table. I find that we would have troubles trading to Minni to get pick number 2.

Seriously, look at our assets and tell us what we have that Either team could want from us, that is worth either pick? Maybe Tomics rights and the 3rd pick.. LOL Gets us Williams, and if rumors are correct, losing Tomic isnt losing much. Rumors have him staying for another 4 yrs in Europe. That one is a stretch though. Leaves us hurting for a back up Center. Fes come on back, we have a hole that we just cannot fill.

Right now Minni is being dated by half the teams in the league, to include the cavs. Heck, its not so far fetched to see the Cavs trade something and their 4th pick for Minnis 2nd pick. They are in much better situation to pull that off than we are…

Guess we should be happy that we have a choice at anyone under the 1st and 2nd positions. Just not as ideal as it could have been if the Cavs had won it with the second pick instead of the 8th.

Right now, focus should be at how the young guys are performing at pre draft workouts. The next question would be, what happens to Millsap if we draft Kanter? Kanter can shoot 3’s and has 2 inches on Paul.. The way everyone talks, unless Millsap can transition to the 3, he could be on his way out.. Not a wish, just an observation. We will probably lose out if we had to trade him.

Many talk about Sap for Granger, but would Indiana go for that one? We could deal out Bell, and Miles to help offset things, but is that a win for us? Depends upon who you talk to, and who we draft? If we were to draft Kanter, it might make sense. That would free up money that they could use in an attempt to get a good free agent this season and next. Gasol is still up for grabs.

  10. French Dude says:

Euh Patrick, where did you see Kanter shoot 3’s ??????? Because he don’t, maybe he can, but he don’t……..

  11. Tony M. says:

You know what? I’d rather have Kawhi Leonard than Brandon Knight. So, I hope we get Kawhi Leonard for the 3rd and Singleton for the 12th.
