Enough with Wes Matthews already!

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

Let me start off by saying I thought Wes was a great player for us last year and I loved his competitiveness. When they lost the last game against LA he was so upset about losing and the thought of the season being over literally disgusted him. As a competitor myself I truly respect that!

However, he signed an offer sheet from Portland that the Jazz did not match. There is nothing we can do about now! He’s gone, no longer a member of our great team! Let’s move on people. Sure we will miss him, but every time I get on this sight to see about new news on who we might be trying to get there are several posts on Matthews this and Matthews that and why we should have  matched that ridiculous offer. Seriously, my fellow Jazz fanatics let’s move on!

We have to give credit where credit is due. KOC, I am truly impressed with what you have done this off season and I can’t wait til October and I can watch our boys play together. With additions of Jefferson, Bell and Hayward. You may look at our team as just replacing pieces that we lost, but I look at it as a major face lift. We have new players, new chemistry, veteran insight and a set of skill sets in Jefferson we haven’t seen since Karl. I am very optimistic this year we could make another run at the finals if we can get one or two more pieces, starting with another big.

I’m not trying to get under peoples skin here, cause I loved Matthews too. But he’s gone and not coming back so let’s move on and look to the future.

Unfortunately we lost a good guy.
I’m very very very sad about the losing of such a young and talented player.

I wish him the best, he deserves consideration.
    Go Wes

I agree. Let’s get creative about what we post. If its been posted 30 times already no need to start a new thread on the same subject.

Yah I’m sick of talking about Wes Matthews. Love the kid. He deserves a lot of the credit for helping our team get as far as it did. He’s a stud. But mistakenly thought the Jazz would pay 9 million for him since he was a priority. Deal slipped through. We’ve moved on. We acquired Raja Bell. We have a new team with Jefferson. And I’m looking forward. Not backwards.

Yeah I think Raja Bell will fill his spot well, granted his wrist is 100% and he doesnt get injured. Im still concerned with our depth at the PF and SG positions. In a way, we were only as good as we were the last 2 seasons because we had the Boozer/Millsap and Ronnie Brewer/Wes Matthews tandums. And once Brewer left, Matthews played big minutes and stayed healthy. Any thoughts?

Thank you, this echos what I’ve been saying since Wes signed with Portland. Yes he’s a great guy and a good player. Our one shot at being the nicest and most heart-warming team in the NBA may be gone forever. Evil Kevin O’Connor turned his back on this guy who did so much for us and let the Trailblazers take him away. Now Wes is stuck with a team who won’t love him as much, and all he has to console him is $34 million. All we have to replace him is an old man named Raja Bell who’s an excellent outside shooter, more experienced, and a great defender. And to make things worse, Bell cost about a third as much.
