The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Just read on Hoopshype, “Free agent big Dampier weighing options among playoff/title teams in wait to clear waivers. Utah could emerge as potential suitor.”
I hope this is true and we can find a way to sign him. We are just a piece or two away from being a championship contender.

If the Jazz sign Dampier as well, we have Okur, Jefferson, Elson, Fesenko, and Dampier all able to play the center position. 5 centers is a bit crowded. That would mean Fes wouldn’t come back and Jefferson would probably start at the Power Forward, leaving us with Dampier and Elson at center and Jefferson and Millsap at PF. Then when Okur is healthy it will get really crowded. Hmmm… not sure if this is a necessary move…
think injuries… memo won’t be 100% till probably after the all star break… he will play before that probably but not be at full strength… also signing him would mean they wouldn’t sign fes, which i think would be an upgrade… so you would have him back up jefferson until memo gets back then have milsap back up jefferson… i like this idea:
While memo is out:
C – Jefferson / Dampier / Elson
PF – Milsap / AK
When memo is healthy
C – Okur / Dampier / Elson
PF – Jefferson / Milsap
I love this
@Adam. 5 is much yes. But this way we could have Jefferson play as a true Power Forward. That way there is 2 Centers and 2 Power Forwards… Granted that Jefferson will start at C anyway but this gives us depth. 3 centers isnt bad. Shoot its good for the time being eh?
Adam read this article, we might not get Fez back. It may not be as crowded as you may think. Also, what has been our problem in the playoffs the last couple of years….size. Dampier is a solid bench player and an average starter if need be. But I wouldn’t worry about this anyway I only give it a 20% chance he will sign here. But I think we definitely could use another proven big.

Just read Houston offered Dampier a 2 year deal for 4 million, can and will the Jazz top that? I don’t think so.
I doubt we could afford him. He’d be great addition, but money is the problem.
We should look at Dampier for sure. Okur might be done. (I hate to say it, but its true. ALSO – we need to get bigger. If we haven’t seen that in the playoffs by now….
I Just Read Kid Cudi Is Still #1
i would like dampier here but we need money
he is an actual big we need size he might be able to help fes too
You can see that the Jazz people are way ahead of those you who are complaining because they don’t go after so-and-so. It has already been in the Jazz organization. The player has some say in where he goes too. Have a little faith and see what happens in the next 45 days!!
If we could get him for a relatively cheap price, I’m all for it. I don’t know if that’s very likely. No doubt he’s an upgrade over Fes though
Wow Kelton i thought i was the only one on here that says Al is a true Power forward finally some one thinks like me well on that any way. Please though some one tell me the piont of anther big? your goin to pick up a guy until Okur gets healthy or what? you have three big guys now and when Okur gets back you will have for with two other guys that play power forward really well with AK and Paul so why do we need all these big guys? what we really need to do is go out and get a back up piont and some bench help for are back court we have enought bigs as it is with Fez Elson and Okur and I will even throw in AL if we wannna play small ball there is no piont to pick up anther big guy it would be a stupid move
Trevor- I’ve been saying that ever since we got him. He’s our replacement for Boozer, not our solution for the center
Kelton- Ok, I’ll agree with that. I’d rather have Dampier and Elson than Fes. I would enjoy keeping AJ at PF. I even think Dampier should start at center when Okur is gone. When Okur does get back, that means either Dampier or Elson becomes the 12th man of the Jazz, never getting any minutes. That’s my one concern. Maybe it’s just me feeling bad for Elson.
I haven’t read any of your other stuff my bad i get on and, all i see usually is people with paul starting at power and Al at center. I’m surprised fans actually think that’s going to be your line up. So i was excited when i saw you saying diffrently. But your right 5 guys that can paly the 5 spot is way to much and, no piont to having that many bigs on one team
