I’m all for #FireCorbin… but Harpring? Correct me if I’m wrong, but Harpring has never coached at any level. Bringing in a guy with no coaching experience and expecting him to be a decent NBA coach is hardly a good idea.
I also think switching a retread coach, like Stan Van Gundy or Mike Brown, would be a bad idea too.
If the Jazz really did fire Corbin (which they almost surely won’t, not any time soon anyway), the best bet would be to go for a young candidate with lots of potential like the Thunder did with Brooks, the Bulls did with Thibodeau, or the Heat did with Spoelstra — all three of whom spent several years as assistants before getting hired as head coaches.
I’m sure the Jazz FO thought Corbin was SUPPOSED to be this kind of guy, but so far he’s shown zero sign that he will follow through.
I think everyone is too quick on the fire Corbin bandwagon. He’s been put in a tough situation. We have 12 players that are all about the same talent and have the same expectations in terms of minutes. If anything, the call for change needs to be on the Jazz front office. We need to trade away some guys to get some all star level talent. Instead of a 10 or 11 man rotation, let’s trade some guys, get some better talent and narrow it down to a 8 or 9 man rotation. Then Corbin isn’t constantly put in the position of making everyone happy. Please Jazz FO….make a move soon.
Hire a commentator = a bad idea. @Shane – Is it the FO that makes the ridiculous in game decisions or change the starting line up that consistently gives up 30 points in the first quarter?
If Mo is out for quite a while will the Jazz use Tinsley/Watson or trade for a starting point guard?? Not good but they will probably use the bandaid..
If we loose to the Clippers after todays lost then changes do need to be made if we want to even have a chance of makeing the playoffs. If its Corbin then Give then I say Scott Layden Jeff Hornececk and lowe as deffensive coach. Then hire harrpring as some assitante and develop him like the 3 coaches you just menchoned
It’s the assistants job to advise the head coach on matchup strengths and weaknesses, assistants should know the development level of each player and be able to tell the coach “Hey the Vets are killing us play a different lineup”
Either
A- Corbin has ignored his assistants advice or
B- he is not getting this advice.
If the reasoning is the later then the whole coaching staff needs to be fired, and not just Corbin.
If the assistant coaches are telling Corbin these lineups suck and don’t work and Corbin chooses to ignore them, then why stay with the Jazz? I would expect more passion from the assistant coaches.
Harpring is an announcer, yes he does need some experience as a coach, but he is employed by the Jazz and has voiced his concerns publicly with the way Corbin has coached this team, where none of the assistant coaches have. I believe Harpring would do whats best for the Jazz rather then the player.
And business 101 is put your best product on the floor, when seats are empty somethings not working…
Am i the only person that thinks and knows jerry sloan should come back. the man should have never retired. it did to make dwill happy n we then get rid of dwill. now his punk azz is complaining that he misses the jazz system. aka the sloan system. crbin isolates to much. he should be coaching the heat. a team full of 1 on 1 players. We have a roster of team players no superstars. Jerry would be the perfect fit… BRING JERRY BACK

Why Harpring???…. because he’s a good guy???… I agree with u Tacorev, we dont need experiments right now, dont u think?
Anyone not going by veteran philosophy only, I would be happy with. Anyone with common sense about talent at all would also be an ideal prospect.
Hire hornacek as head coach and harpring as the assistant.

Harpring knows what Jazz basketball is at least. Corbin not so much. Have no idea if Harpring would be a good coach or not. He might be, though.
