Not too surprised to read this. Sigh. I was really hoping we had at least one other move under our sleeves this offseason for a SG.

Cheers,

Justin

    A few things to consider:

The Nets can only offer Kiralenko the veterans minimum, right now with with his Russian team, Kiralenko is making youghly 4m for the next two seasons with an opt out option.

Money talks and Utah is the team that can offer Kiralenko the most money, also the Warriors are interested so we will see.

I just find it very doubtful Kiralenko goes to the Nets for the veterans minimum.

  2. If money talks, which it does. Then Ak will go to the nets. Its not like dropping AK under the table cash would be hard for the russians. Isnt it interesting that DWill stayed in brooklyn without Dwight? I still think we can get something better by trading Al to do what Ak will do. Just need to wait for Dwight and Orlando to finish the soap opera, there is a handful of teams that are desperate for a consistent center.

  3. Omar says:

Looks like Bulls wont match for Asik, this really blows cuz I think Houston would be that desperate team, and they have a ton of assets.

  4. Jake says:

Were are you getting ur info from because I check espn and Nba.com and found nothing about Ak signing with the nets?

  5. Jake, he is probably getting it from the website he included in his post. Here’s your sign.

  6. Justin says:

Perhaps the Jazz could leverage a sign and trade? Anyone on the nets (SG) that we would want?

  7. Justin says:

@Omar – Interesting comment. Kevin Martin is a shooter for sure….

  8. The mullet will not return to the NBA. If he does, he’ll spend the entire time on some team’s bench, like he did in his last 2 years with the Jazz.

  9. Jupit Crush says:

MarShon Brooks is an upside 2 – rookie last year – gunner but has a lot of talent. Honestly though, I like our team as presently contructed – need time to develop mostly. Burks/Hayward at the 2 are fine with me. Looking at 2s around the league I can’t find any I want over Hayward. I want to see:

    Al/Favors/Marv/Hayward/Mo

    backed up by

    Kanter/Millsap/Evans/Burks/Backup PG.

Millsap would wreck any other bench front line – 6th man of the year fo’ sho.

I wonder if the front office ever thought about going after the Dwightmare… We could prolly swing it with some Big Al/young guys package, but he wouldn’t stay ha.

I want basketball back already :’(

  10. Jupit Crush says:

    constructed* spell check ftw

  11. disco says:

sign and trade for some draft picks is better than nothing

  12. Guido says:

!@#$% u all, good luck AK,

  13. TACOREV says:

For the last time people, AK is a hack and he’s not coming back.

  14. Kevin says:

    @tacorev

Somehow I imagine this wont be the last time you say that, but we can all hope.

How is it that Jazz fans still cannot spell Kirilenko’s name correctly? As fans, we should be able to spell the players names correctly.

  15. French Dude says:

Maybe he’s coming back in the league, maybe not, maybe with us, maybe not, i’m not sure living in the past is a good thing, we saw what happen with the second coming of Raja, but no matter what happen, you must have respect for Andreï, because he was an incredible basketball player, he put some stat lines which will stay for a long time in the history of the game……. so for everything i just want to say Thank You Mr Kirilenko

  16. French Dude, you said it perfectly. We need to move on, but Kirilenko did mostly positive contributions for us. In the end he left about the right time. Getting something exciting for Al and hopefully we can get something good in next year’s weak daft would really be a good thing.

  17. KCJones says:

AK was fine. He wasa top-10 SF in the league in his time. Still, his lack of passion and desire, his injury pronedness on top of his huge contract is what did him in with Jazz fans.

For the right amount, he would be a fine player. As our backup SF for $3-$4M I would love him! But he’ll get overpaid by someone like the Nets (which would require a sign and trade). We’ve seen that the GMs of the league just can’t help themselves and hand out bad contract after bad contract, and AK could be next.

  18. Logan says:

I heard that next years draft is not as deep but there is alot of talent in the lotery there are 4 or 5 point guards that could make it in the lottery this year and could end up being really good but outside of the top 15 or 20 you might as well not have a draft pick.

  19. Jake says:

    @ Logan
I don’t think outside of the top 15-20 isn’t worth a draft pick. There are way to many examples why you can find Gems/all-starts anywhere in the draft, it’s just not as likely.

And to answer this post… I don’t think AK is interested in comsing here to compete for a spot as a SF with Marvin and though he plays PF in the euro league more I don’t think he can play that position very well each night in the NBA. He’s going to a team where he can eather be a champion, a starter or stay in russia is my guess.

  20. Chris says:

The legendary French Dude is posting again, and that makes this post way better.

  21. French Dude says:

    @Chris, i’m like a bad flu, i always come back ;)

  22. silverwolf says:

The last I heard is that AK-47 was going to stay in Russia. When money is thrown your way the person can change his mind. What will happen is still up in the air at this point in time. There are the reasons that I think AK-47 stays in Russia. 1. Would he get the same amount of playing time in the NBA as he does in Russia. The amount of playing time was important to him. 2. In Russia he is the man on the team, would he be the man on a team in the NBA? 3. Russia is his native land. Those are my throughts on the subject.

  23. silverwolf says:

news flash……AK-47 said that he will return to the NBA next year. Hoopshype rumors

  24. Nikolay says:

    It’s no rumor already…
CSKA president told in an interview to Russian newspaper that Kirilenko will play in NBA next season. (interview published couple of hours ago)
AK himself mentioned he’d like to finish all the talks by choosing the team before the Olympiad. He doesn’t want to be disctracted from the games.

So I guess we have couple of days left to find out where he goes. Right now Russian bloggers talk mostly about Nets and Kings…
