Sooner the better. So why a buy out? Does that mean he has no trade value out there that the Jazz could get something for him? Now I know he is horrible but I thought maybe the Jazz could get something.
Its a curious situation. I am not contract savvy, but if we cannot find a trade partner, can they just end the contract rather than buying him out? He has stated that he does not want to be here, and we really dont want him here, so cant you just annul the contract? What did we do with Fishers contract when he wanted to leave, we didnt buy him out did we?
Free Burks!
I’m pretty sure we did have to buy out Fisher. Which sucked.
Give McDonalds a call, say we’ll trade the contract rights of Bell for a medium fry.
I don’t think mcdonalds would go for that Raja has no trade Value what’s so ever. What ever we offer to trade for him
I think Fisher was just mutually released from his contract.Jazz could have refused. Amnesty would require a full contract payoff. A buyout could be less and better for the Jazz.I would think a team would trade at least for a second rounder..Whatever lets get it done..
On a side note it is quite interesting thing for the Bulls. They might not keep Korver or Brewer. and rumor has it they may amnesty Boozer. Some fans argued that loosing these three really hurt the Jazz. Looks like to me KOC knew what he was doing…
I wouldn’t mind having Korver back. He may be a liability on defense, but so is Al.
In his best season, he shot 53% from three. In Al’s best season, he shot 52% total field goals. Threes are worth more than twos. Why not have a backup who can knock down treys consistently?
And that time he blocked Lebron at the rim-Fantastic.
Just looking at shooters that are still out there…I’d take Danny Green over Korver any day.
Here’s David Locke’s explanation of a buyout.
“Here is why Raja and the Jazz both want a buyout. If the Jazz amnesty Raja then he goes into the secondary waivers. This allows all the teams under the salary cap to bid on Raja and then Raja can’t pick his team. If the Jazz buyout Raja he can choose his team. He will get the vet minimum of 1 million next year. Raja is scheduled to make 3.48 so Jazz were on hook for 2.48 anything less than that in the buyout saves the Jazz money.
To complete the thought. If Raja is willing to take back less money from the Jazz to ensure his ability to pick his own team it makes sense for everyone to do it. Raja picks his team at a cost of ????. Jazz save ??? by letting Raja do this. Having the money on the cap for this upcoming year has no impact on the Jazz. It allows the Jazz to still use their amnesty if they need to on another player.”
The thing that bugs me is that Raja’s buyout still affects our salary cap even if a buyout happens.
How the NBA managed to come out of the lockout with teams still having none of the power and players having it all I do not know. It’s not like the players’ union had a clue what they were doing, with idiot Fisher basically causing the lockout by not negotiating sooner, then having to step down during the process. Basically, the terms of the previous CBA were so absurdly player-favorable that the NBA could only take baby steps toward a sensible deal that stops this garbage from happening.
Regardless, at least we’re finally getting rid of Terribell! He can’t defend, he sometimes shoots okay, and he’s probably the slowest guard in the league. Some contender will pick him up and be throwing away money, so good for them. This guy can’t play well anymore and should be out of the league.
With as much offense to Raja Bell as possible…it’s about time. Raja was the worst starter last season on the Utah Jazz. I’m so glad we got rid of him. Now we just need a REAL, young shooter in Danny Green to come off the bench and light them up from beyond the arc!!!
Danny Green supposedly made a deal with San Antonio
According to ksl, it’s a done deal. Just have to wait until July 11 to make it “official”.

You’re right Kory. I do wish we had got him but San Antonio made a pretty good offer that I don’t know if we could beat…even if he did want to come and play in Utah.
