Deron isn’t to blame

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

I just listened to the interview that David Locke had with DeronWilliams. He seemed sincere when he said that he couldn’t force Jerry out. Jerry meant to much to Utah. I’m not quoting him but I really think that Deron isn’t the one to blame. Jerry Sloan chose to retire, I don’t believe any of these reports. There has to be a little truth but really not a whole lot. What did you guys think?

So are gonna try and say he just is saying it to get the target off his back but why would he take the time to go on the show and be so upfront and say flat out that the media is lying. We need deron on this team. Jerry chose what he chose so let’s support who we still have on our team coaches and players.

Critics will talk all they want. Even JA Adande, probably the most fair and unbiased journalist on ESPN, is now saying it’s his fault that Jerry is gone. This interview seemed fairly honest. I didn’t need D-Will to cry and be like “OH my god my career is over I’m going to leave Utah because he’s gone!!” but it’s just lame. Deron has it right “JErry’s meant more to this organization that I have”

no, williams couldn’t force jerry sloan out. however, williams could very well be the needle that broke the camel’s back. deron williams epitomizes an entire generation of professional athletes who are – to put it bluntly – vain and self-important. he has positioned himself above leadership. sloan’s basketball roots are grounded in something far more pure and selfless; i can understand why sloan is exhausted. sure, it’s easy to point fingers at williams. but, in the end, williams is a product of a self-involved, entitled generation. he wants to win but on his terms. it’s sad to see arrogance trump humility. perhaps, one day, williams will get past himself and understand the concept of team.
